Swedish pop metal sensation Dead By April returns to Holland to kick more ass on "European Crossroads Tour 2012".
DEAD BY APRIL was formed in Gothenburg Sweden in 2007 by former Nightrage vocalist Jimmie Strimmell, Marcus Wesslén (By Night), and songwriter Pontus Hjelm. The intention of the project from the outset was to fuse pop and metal in a way never before attempted. The bands first singles “Lost” and “Stronger” became immediate hits in Sweden, and without a label or any commercial backing the band won Best Newcomer on the Swedish Metal Awards and Bandit Rock Awards in 2008. Soon after the band was picked up by Universal Sweden. In support of the bands debut self-titled album Dead By April the band hit the road touring in the UK with Skindred, and again in Europe and the UK with My Passion. The band performed on every major music festival and numerous television channels in Sweden, and continued to forge a dedicated following on the European continent and Japan. Dead By April was certified gold in Sweden and has to date sold in excess of 70,000 copies worldwide. A compilation album called Stronger was released in January 2011 containing various unreleased material from the first record.
In autumn 2011 DEAD BY APRIL released its highly anticipated sophomore album Incomparable this autumn via Universal in Sweden and Spinefarm in the UK. The album had been written, produced and recorded entirely by Pontus Hjelm, and was proceeded by “Within My Heart” single. Incomparable is the first album to feature clean vocalist Zandro Santiago. The band then hit the road with fellow Swedes Marionette on “The SlaughTour 2011” which traveled through the UK and continental Europe with sell out shows in Southampton, Cologne, Hamburg and Amersfoort. DEAD BY APRIL will continue to build on its success by performing at summer festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Melodifestivalen, an annual music competition organized by Swedish national television and radio that ultimately determines the country’s representative for Eurovision Song Contest. The band will return to Europe in the spring to perform more headline dates.
