From what I saw, they were only bothering people who they thought were taking video, not stills. I have never used flash at a show. I think it's kind of rude to use a flash on the band as it's playing. A 35 mm with a reasonably fast lens should be just fine without flash. Even my crap Treo 755p camphone does a half decent job if you wait for the right moments (it can't cope with really bright or dark lighting, since it's just a crap video CCD and has no shutter or iris). I need to find a very compact PAS digicam which has gives the user reasonable control of the shots (equiv of aperture priority would be wonderful). But probably doesn't exist. :P

Flash won't ever work in that kind of situation so don't bother.

Jens Johansson is very Swedish. The rest of the guys are/were Finnish, yes.

Metalliaxe şunu yazdı:
The venue's lighting made it impossible to take photos without flash, even the ones I got WITH flash didn't come out too well. And about the pissing on people thing, Stratovarius is/was a Finnish band so no it's not just a Swedish thing.
-
tehBert şunu yazdı:
Is there something about Swedish people and pissing on people to show distaste? Because Jens Johansson pissed on Timo Tolkki on stage when Tolkki was messing up on the opening notes to Forever. (Both from Stratovarius)

People shouldn't be using flash, I think photos are fine otherwise. Security guards waving flashlights is even more obnoxious though for sure. Kickass show, the sound was exactly the right volume, for a change. I was LOL when he started singing 'Slow an Easy' by Whitesnake.

Yeah, the camera thing sucked. I got sick of the security waving flashlights in everybody's faces up front. Though it did bring about my favorite non-musical part of the show, when one of the big security guards jumped into the crowd and shouted at some poor guy: "Yo! Check dis out! No flash photography!" I shit you not.

Metalliaxe şunu yazdı:
I'm kinda mad that they started yelling at us about our cameras though... even people with camera phones. WTF, I'm sure Opeth doesn't mind that we photograph them.

Show was fucking spectacular. Now I know why that band is named "Baroness". High on Fire was ok. Opeth was amazing. Thanks to this show, I have learned that wheel chairs are very stabby. I laughed when someone yelled, "That's my favorite 'O'!!" when High on Fire's backdrop was removed and Opeth's backdrop re-raised. I met the 'Lighter Guy" from a previous show, pretty stoked about that. Haha.

Opeth fucking destroyed. I have such a bad bangover but it was totally worth it.

That was awesome :) Sucks about the horrible sound for Baroness and HOF but I'm not a big fan of them anyway... But Opeth was amazing! I got a pick :D

The show was wicked awesome.. Baroness (aka Tourettes inflicted Animal) kinda sucked and H.O.F. was ok, but man, Opeth was amazing.. I have about 200 pics and a couple vids from the show and a sore throat to remember the night.. Oh, and I'd like to thank that short but really hot girl in front of me for making my night extra special. :)

Great show. HOF and Baroness were forgettable but Opeth was awesome. Mikael's interaction with the crowd was the best I've ever seen. And thats saying alot since I've seen a ton of bands over 20 years.

Sound sucked for Baroness and High on Fire. They didn't seem to be able to get things so the vocals were audible when they were playing. At least up front. Opeth was awesome and their sound was fine!

I'm talking BART/bus in as usual. Screw paying for parking/gas. Only problem is, I have to leave by midnight to catch the 47 -> 71 -> BART. If the show runs long I'll probably say fuggit and stay and just take the All Nighter home again. Sucks though, since I don't get home until nearly 4AM if I do that. Anyone wanna give me a ride to BART if it runs past midnight, but ends before 12:15? Or Fremont BART station if it runs later? :) LOL
