St Georges Market

Belfast
Birleşik Krallık
Legendary Scottish outfit Frightened Rabbit bring their vibrant live showcase of critically acclaimed album ‘Midnight Organ Fight’ to Belfast. A progression in terms of songwriting and sonic depth over its predecessor, the band manage to create a ‘pop’ sounding album without sacrificing the personality or passion of their early work. Essential.

The Postal Service Death Cab also play.

There was also some tall guy in the middle of the crowd who was wearing leather, fingerless gloves and kept punching the air in a move, i imagine, designed to show off his rock prowess. The punch was bad enough but the gloves were inexcusable.

haha! it's not terrible, I would have loved that too, but ben probably thought the crowd was so full of radio fans no-one would have even known about postal service anyway. id love to go to a gig with jenny and ben there for it, goodness.

I agree with imawizard. I felt really out of place, very few people seemed to know the lyrics and there was almost no energy in the crowd. The setlist was excellent but a little part of me did want Ben to play 'Such Great Heights' or 'Nothing Better' after 'I Will Follow You...' (Yes, I know that would be "so terrible because it was a DCFC show blah blah blah oh em gee")

They played an amazing set, it was perefect. I agree the crowd was TERRIBLE though. I was right at the front centre, and seriously, me and my friend were the only ones who seemed to actually like them. It almost made me feel out of place for being a fan and singing along, if that makes sense? haha. The setlist was great though, was so glad to hear a few older songs.

yeah, shame indeed. it wasn't just the teenagers who heard one death cab song on the OC ages ago tho, there were a lot of people there that just were shit in general, and as far as I recollect pretty much everyone was ID'd at the bar, so unless they came in drunk, they were just being noobs. I hate to be so negative, but I had such high hopes for this gig, and I cant believe the crowd managed to ruin it, most gigs i've been too the crowd made the night, very strange indeed. @Petzie I loved 405 too and we laugh indoors! I saw company calls on a setlist from last month, but alas they didnt play that one. the setlist was pretty damn good tho.

Ah they were the same guys, the guy who pushed in had like gloves on? Thankfully the one on the left of the five who i kind off knew off bebo, asked me a few times if i could see, shame about the rest. I think they should come back next year and do a 18+ gig in Mandela or Limelight, think that would be better and would get most of the drunk little teenagers out of there. Plus i think St.georges was a bit big for them in this country. I noticed it as well, he looked ultra skinny, he didn't even look that size in the Cath vid.

I was standing behind the raised platform at the barrier and I do have to admit it was really hard to see. I too was shocked by the crowd, a lot of people just stood there doing absolutely nothing, and that was strange to see. I had a guy beside me who kept standing infront of me and pushing so I couldn't stand beside my friend, and he didn't sing a word. I did love it though (but not so much Frightened Rabbit). I loved how they played 405 in the encore and I was so overwhelmed when I realised I was hearing I Will Follow You Into The Dark. I just wish they'd played What Sarah Said or Bend To Squares. So, so, so happy I've finally seen them, however I can't see them coming back. I'd somehow recorded the sock/bottle thing and Ben seems so disappointed when he's saying it. :/

@AcousticIndie im sorry but the ones infront of me didnt look like fans at all, and I asked them politely at that start if they would at least lean forward abit so I could actually see and they refused, I was pretty shocked at the selfishness, im 5ft 2 so they wouldnt have had a problem seeing over me, if someone asked me nicely I would have never seen so rude, the ones I asked were the ones that looked the most bored the entire time also - they were the ones who blocked my view the entire time. I dont really remember what they were wearing anyway so im not even sure if you're talking about the right people, but I wasn't pleased. im not sure if you meant I got into the barrier or the gig earlier. and I only got in cause some guy I was talking to rammed them and made a space for me, which im not going to say I wasnt grateful for.

There werent many assholes near the front that i could see, except the guys who kept shouting postal service and play such great heights. Then again assholes don't show up early for gigs usually.

That was such an epic gig but I'm so sad we had a bunch of wankers in the crowd. Although there was an adorable middle aged lady who was smiling the whole way through, she made up for the arseholes.

Indiegurl i was near you and i know a few of those 5 guys, 2 of them are actually really big fans-the one in the shirt/jumper with a scarf and the camera and the other one in a hoodie i think-both the tallest. The other 3 i know aren't the biggest fans but where there with there friends. But seriously 2 of them are really big fans and the guy with the camera did sing a lot i think as i was behind him. You got in after those guys those two guys didn't you? You should of tried earlier. But seriously it was more like the 3 losers not 5

they played such a set, it seemed a bit short tho and that crowd was rediculous. i though i was the only one around me having fun. There were these too really tall girls infront of me not singing or moving but lookign at eachother occasionally and givin weird looks any time like me or my friend sang along. Why pay 20 quid to see a band ur not interested in?

yeah the crowd was pretty shite, there were these absolute cunts over on the left hand side who were sitting jumping about moshing :\ and i'm pretty sure it was one of them threw the bottle, cause when ben complained about them throwing stuff, one of them just raised a bottle of something and started laughing/ cheering. The band were great anyway. Oh well, they'll probably never come back :(

Thank god, someone else noticed that the crowd was awfull, I tought it was me being grumpy, cause I was alone, but it seemed to me that the majority of people there yesterday just didn't have anything better to do and end up going to the concert. Everything else amazing, and you guys have a beautifull city, that seemed better than Dublin.

it was a teribble crowd. im not kidding, 5 guys infront of me knew one song (they were right on the barrier... why they even wanted to be there when they could have seen from anywhere and they were not fans I do not know, pure selfishness) "I will possess your heart" they didn't move, the most excited they got was to clap their hands, and the 6ft boring bastards ruined by view for most of the gig. I was kind of ashamed of crowd. It was just full of people who had heard DCFC on the OC or the radio and knew one song. I think it will dent their chances of every playing here again, and ben seemed so pissed off after the "sock" thing. However the setlist was amazing, oldies like we laugh indoors/405 made my night, pity it was ruined by the losers.

I agree with 'the worst crowd i've ever witnessed at a gig.' I seriously didn't think it was possible to be surrounded by so many annoying drunkards. Honestly, i'm not a bench, do not lie on me screaming completely wrong, too loud, wrongly pitched words into my ear. Worst atmosphere ever despite the brilliance of the actual music. I'd also like to add that whoever was shouting the postal service THE ENTIRE GIG deserves to be slapped, real hard.

Frightened Rabbit bored me to tears but Death Cab were incredible. The set list was perfect. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sound in St George's Market. The crowd was rather disappointing, though. We were stuck in front of four culchy wankers who, when they weren't loudly discussing their social lives, spent nearly every available moment screaming “Go on Gibbo, you legend!” and “Fucking Death Cab, yeah, fucking right like!”. I honestly can't imagine they actually heard any of the set. And anyone throwing anything at a band should have their arms confiscated.

Band sounded ace, but that was the worst crowd i've ever witnessed at a gig. Full of irritating, immature teens skipping about the place and people who had no interest whatsoever in the music. I was stunned at the amount of people just standing about and chatting - or being more interested in messing about with their digital cameras. Talking pics of the band is one thing, but I saw loads of groups of posering little girls talking pics of each other. Don't get that at all. There was a girl in front of us i could have punched. Spent ALL night talking to her friend about bikini waxes, underarm hair and how long it takes her hair to dry. And throwing anything at a band playing it stupid beyond words. I actually felt embarrassed at the crowd. God knows what DCFC thought of it.
