Won't scrobble my iTunes because of time difference?

Ok, I signed up a few days ago, and last.fm downloaded all my music history (plays, artists etc.) I downloaded the latest software aswell.

However, now everytime I open the software, from the first time, it comes up with a message saying something like 'it appears your computer disagrees with us about what time it is' and tells me to check my time/date on my computer match my settings and all that. I've tried and I've failed.

Can anybody tell me what to do? The time isn't important on my computer so can anyone just give me the right timezones/settings to put on my computer and profile so it can begin to scrobble? I don't care if I have to go by the time in Zimbabwe, I just want it to match and scrobble. Please help.

PS. I live in Australia, and tried many zones, it just won't work. And can you please explain everything step by step, because I'm still a novice concerning this site.

if you don't mind about the time, then go to date and time properties, and put yourself GMT : Greenwich Mean Time as time zone.

    then try playing...

i do mind about the time tho...

it used to work fine then for the last week or so it dosent.. im still in the same time zone and really i dont want to change it just for one app, can someone please just fix it maybe so it works again?

  • This has been a problem for me, too. Is there any fix beyond the inconvenience of your computer clock being made into a lie?

This is being caused because all states in Australia that use Daylight Savings (DS) extended the duration of DS.
I haven't had any problems actually scrobbling my songs (I use XBMC for that), but on my profile on Last.fm, the times for each play are all messed up. This is caused because nothing (including Microsoft from what I've gathered) are not aware that we have changed the on/off dates for DS, and have therefore not updated their systems yet.

  • yup, the time zone on any software is always picked from the operative system, hence if there's something wrong with it, beside checking the time zone/location in your last.fm page there isn't really anything else that be done for the client.

yes, but surely the Last.fm staff could adjust the daylight savings times in accordance with what is actually taking place?

  • I do not live in Australia. I live in Newfoundland. Our Daylight Savings Time tranisition went on this year as it has in years past.

But I still have this problem.

  • We cannot adjust time zones since they are individually managed on the user page settings for what concern Last.fm. What i meant, is that if the tracks listened on your operative system get the timestamp wrong from whatever reason, we cannot change it and neither there is a way to tell if and how they are wrong.

The only workaround i can think of on our side, should i'm not sure this is going to work and sure will give some problem when the DS will change again, is to try to set willingly a "wrong time zone" in the account settings of your last.fm page. Trying to compensate the hours wrong from the OS..does it make sense?
