It was a long silence, I know, but finally here's some news. First I'm happy to tell you a new Distant Fires Burning CDR is coming. It's called 7 Sisters and the release is planned somewhere around September.

Second: I can tell you that the remix-project with poivreVert has lead to a more profound collaboration. It's first symptoms are showing up because Doorchaser has done the recording, mixing and mastering of World Smaller Sweet Coloured (a poivreVert-demo of 5 songs, with the remastered Distant Fires Burning remix and a remix by The Combs). And there is actually more where that came from...

Hey just for your info, Belectronics is the Belgian-Electronics-guise for me (Doorchaser) as Belambient is for the Belgian Ambient group. These users make it more easier to run both groups and I can use their library for the radio.
this group was never intended to become a promotion tool for my music. I have my own ways for that. But for selecting the featured artists I use an algorhytm just to be sure every artist that is connected gets featured and the algorhytm just stumbled on one of my aliases. And I just figured why not give it an equal shot! And it gives me the chance to update that Bio!!

Gert De Meester, also known as user Doorchaser, the bass-player of The Seven Laws of Woo, and knob twiddler of Distant Fires Burning, lives in Mechelen, Belgium.

It all started with a Commodore 64. Gert (born May 17, 1977) was taking care of the C64 for a friend who needed a place to put it while renovating his house. Gert soon discovered he could use the C64 to create electronic music. Though mostly experimental, at age sixteen he had created much of his own music, and was greatly influenced by Future Sound of London's lifeforms album. Other 90's electronica influences included Aphex Twin, The Black Dog, Autechre, Global Communication, Biosphere and The Orb.

In 2000 he got to know his girlfriend, who now became his lifetime partner and who he likes to call Mus. She owned a very powerful computer and Gert explored that machine in function of music making and that's the moment he bought Cubase.

Gert finally adopted the moniker The Mental Attack and completed his first song, Doorchaser in 2003, which evolved into the five-track Structures EP. As you see it's his user name. It stands for his job. He's a Social Worker and provides councelling at home for people who can't seem to find their way in this society. Often he stands for closed doors...

Shortly after he was asked to make the soundtrack for a space-comedy-play called “Ark” he made them a Funktronic CD and named himself “Reverend Basstorius' Intergalactic Funk Experience” shortly referred to as “R.B.I.F.E

Soon Gert started to collect a Laptop, a midi-controller, a USB Bass guitar connection, Cubase studio 4, 5 etc... and Three years later (2006) Gert released his first full-length album, Iluvatar.

In 2007 Gert started to experiment more with ambient music and started to produce music as Distant Fires Burning.

Allthough this moniker is in the fridge it might be possible that it comes out again in te future. Who knows...

This collaboration of vidnaObmana en Implant (Len Lemeire) exists solely in the fact that Dirk Serries made a remix of the track Patterns of Awareness by Implant. It was released in 2003 by Alfa Matrix on Horseback Riding Through Bassfields - Limited

Hello!

First things first: as of today, belgian ambientduo Press three to delete is no more. Both bandmembers agreed on the sillyness of the name and decided to rename themselves to Borborygmi!

To celebrate this event, they reworked their debutalbum 'Neil Diamond is a girl's best friend' with a new cover and new sontitles. Other than that, the music was involved in a *very small* remastering session.

On june 9th, 2009, Borborygmi also released their second album called 'Planetarium'. Although it is the bands second album, it is their first conceptalbum, taking you on a journey through space and time. As every song represents a planet and thus incorporates different genres of music throughout the album, 'Planetarium' differs quite a bit from their former release. You will hear some folk, house, electronica, ambient, noise and freaky stuff. More info can be found on the albumpage of Planetarium.

Fri 29 May – Ambient Night

Naar Mechelen afgezakt voor een intens avondje als het ware, want intensiteit daar draait het naar mening toch om bij het genre Ambient. Niet zoveel volk maar wel een heel gezellige sfeer, een gezellig zaaltje ook en dan de muziek.. Rf061992 deed het vooral rustig aan, een heel ingetogen set die je tot rust bracht maar ook beetje te ingetogen, waardoor naar het einde toe de aandacht wat verslapte, gelukkig op het einde dan een toch iets wat meer up-tempo song, daarvan hadden er wat meer mogen zijn eigenlijk maar het viel anders dik mee. Bpolar begon al direct met een iets meer up-temp nummer gedreven door een soort drum-beat, ze varieerden ook de wat ''hardere'' met ingetogen songs waardoor de aandacht voor de muziek bleef bestaan. Ambient is nu eenmaal muziek die je vooral moet beleven, op de achtergrond of intens maar vooral beleven... en Bpolar deed me dat ook meer doen de muziek beleven, zoals het hoort. De hoofdact jammer genoeg gemist door het moeten halen van een trein, maar voor mij een meer dan geslaagd avondje dat voor herhaling vatbaar is en toch weer twee nieuwe bands leren kennen .

Sat 23 May – Bodybeats Festival

De allereerste editie van dit op een EBM/Ambient/Darkwave gericht publiek vooral, niet echt de grote massa maar een ''goed gevulde '' Hof Ter Lo, het mocht wel iets meer zijn maar voor een eerste editie viel dit heel goed mee, mede omdat het genre een toch iets of wat beperkt publiek aanspreekt. De eerste band For Greater Good bracht een naar Ambient gerichte set, het klonk allemaal wel goed en zo, maar ook beetje te statisch, een beetje meer variatie mocht ook maar al bij al een goede start van het festival. De tweede band Psyche konden met met hun eerder naar donkere Industrial gerichte muziek me wat meer bekoren, afwisselend wat harder en zachtere nummers die werden gedragen door een heel zalige stem. Zeker en vast een eerste hoogtepuntje. Maar de derde band The Weathermen was zo mogelijk nog beter, veel 'fun' op het podium, zelfs een verkleepartij , een band die vooral goed kan entertaimen, ook al waren de stiltes tussen de nummers soms een beetje te lang, dit was een leuk tussendoortje. Sheep On Drug had ik al beetje van gehoord, leuke podiumact en zo maar muzikaal konden ze me niet echt overtuigen, vooral beetje in dezelfde lijn, goed voor een half uurtje maar dan had ik het wel gehad . En dan was het tijd voor Portion Control een heel harde set eigenlijk, een donderende stem en muziek die je naar de strot grijpt en niet meer los laat, op het eerste gevoel ook allemaal beetje van hetzelfde maar zodanig gebracht dat je gewoon in vervoering bleef dansen. Een beetje verweesd achterblijvend na deze toch wel heel harde en strakke set was het de buurt aan een van DE bands die er intertijd voor hebben gezorgd dat ik into Electro-New Wave ben geraakt, A split Second en ja hoor, geen minuut stil gestaan , gewoon een potje nostalgie en vast stellen hoeveel nummers ik eigenlijk wel kende, effe was ik weer die 18jarige die begon interesse te tonen voor donkere dansmuziek, HET hoogtepunt van de dag wat mij betreft deze A split Second, ze kunnen het nog steeds, een sobere achtergrond dat wel maar ze weten hoe ze hun publiek moeten entertaimen... Klasse. The Neon Judgement brachten nagenoeg dezelfde set als op Rock Waregem, beginnende met ''Smack'' van hun nieuwe cd en wederom viel me op hoezeer de nieuwe nummers zo goed klinken, ze mogen gerust staan naast de klassiekers. Een wederom geslaagd optreden. Het was intussen al wat laat geworden en een klein beetje vroeger naar huis gegaan, nog nagenietende van een heel geslaagd avondje EBM/Darkwave en andere donkere electro

De eerste editie van dit festival is wat mij betreft heel geslaagd, er mocht wel wat meer volk zijn maar met de hoeveelheid die er nu was geraken ze zekr uit de kosten, een heel gezellige sfeer ook en voor herhaling vatbaar, suggesties voor volgend jaar... Crossvautls, Psy'hiah, Front242..
