The style known as trip-hop has its roots in everything from funk to old hip-hop to acid jazz, the neo-funk movement that sprouted up in London circa 1988.

It can be made entirely with computers and electronic devices, like Mr. Scruff. It can be played by a band, like Red Snapper. It can be a mix of both, like Jazzanova. It can even be instrumental hip-hop, or what would be considered instrumental hip-hop if it had come out of the hip-hop scene.

This is perfectly blended hip-hop, soul, vocals, atmospherics, and brilliant production into a cohesive whole that initially defied categorization. This is world of Massive Attack, Tricky, Portishead and much more.

@karakka...Like I said Triphop is difficult to characterize, but gorillaz was a hug launch pad for me. I've seen trip hop explained mostly as drum & bass+hip hop + electronica, Gorillaz has at least two of those (the latter two). I mean Placebo is in this weeks top artisits?!? if that doesn't make trip hop hard to peg I don't know what does.

Hypnotizing... Hello for y'all people and see ya 'cuz and it's time to dive more in this endless trip...hop...Wait, what else can I say? I love Trip Hop or is it better to say I starting to love that (thanks Mrs. Internet!) When you start to listen there's no way to drop out, just on and on, thrills never felt before, but y'all know it, y'all felt it, and better late than never here I am listening to the most ever attractive.
