  The icecaps retreated from the carbon burning onslaught of the loathsome Tarmacian hordes. The Tarmacians had transcended their dependency on externalities to support their corrupted culture. Now all could be consumed without further delay or concern of consequences. Woofit is situated within a steel cage in the back of what Woofit has decided is a death squad black pick up truck. Two clock faced Guardians sit on either side of the cage. Their yellow TARCORP logos are prominently displayed on their heads, chests, arms and legs. Neither of them acknowledge the confined presence of the Woofster. Woofit feels that it is a fitting time to introduce the pulsating electronica of Feathered Fish to his Tarmacian creation for the purposes of environmental enhancement and to lift Woofit’s unusually moribund mood. There is no place other than Tarmac. There has only ever been Tarmac. There will only ever be Tarmac. What is a poor dog to do other than look above the heads of the Guardians.

  Interlude for the damned - The average height of a Tarmacian is 1.8m. Woofit considers that all Tarmacian activity takes place within this limited physical space. Just above their clock faced heads is the void. Oh, poor lil Tarmacians, you invest so much in so little.   The clock faced Guardians of the Toll descend on Woofit without warning. One moment Woofit is happily listening to Stray Ghost’s - Nothing, But Death. The next, he was the recipient of a multitude of electric shocks courtesy of the Guardians taser guns. Woofit had just enough time to curse Kubrick for introducing the ape to weaponry before our hero spiralled down into a vortex of shock induced oblivion. Somewhere between the dark void of unconsciousness and recovery Woofit had a dream. Woofit stands at one end of what appears to be an infinite board room table. On the backrest of each black faux leather seat around the table is the yellow corporate logo of TARCORP. Macabre be thy Blood is playing at low volume. There is a laptop on the table directly in front of Woofit and the words Steel, Concrete, Plastics, Glass repeatedly cross the screen from right to left. Woofit hit’s a key on the laptop keyboard and the meticulously constructed world begins to fall apart.

  The floor of the subterranean car park is suddenly transparent and the Tarmacian underworld is revealed to Woofit in all its monstrous malevolent magnificence. A seemingly endless lattice work of cables and steel pipes suspended over a huge black lake of oil stretch away to the far off dark horizon. Massive support columns and a confusion of cable bearing pylons hold this stratum of Tarmac in place. Every individual component of this built environment is emblazoned with the corporate logo of TARCORP. Woofit reflects on business accretion and considers conjuring up the ghosts of Milton Friedman, Augusto Pinochet, Ronald Reagan and Boris Yeltsin to witness Woofit’s horrendous creation. Allen Ginsberg shows up instead and recites Wichita Vortex Sutra in its entirety. Tears well up in Woofit’s eyes when he waves goodbye. Yarp Yarp Yarp

  Woofit was getting tired of his car horn compositions and replaced them with the collected works of Stray Ghost. In homage to Glamorama, a light rain of confetti began to fall and the air became permeated with the smell of shit. Woofit changed the colour of the cars from metallic grey to a garish cerise. Content with the local environmental makeover Woofit continued to walk towards the green light. For the sheer joy of it, Woofit cast his mind back to a news broadcast on his home world announcing the end of history. The dominant species illustrious and industrious endeavours had come to fruition. The summit of the pursuit of lasting happiness had been conquered. From the pinnacle of the giddy heights of success it was proclaimed that all could enjoy a good nights sleep assured that tomorrow would be just like today. A blissful life of easy indulgence for all. Woofit was greatly amused by the social unrest and economic/political upheavals that followed. Yarpy yarp fellas.
