i love how dedicated she is to making mindless bops for the gays - she doesn’t know how to do anything else except serve cunt and i think that’s admirable

This comment box is unfortunate. Kuu has been consistent with her releases as far as quality, in my opinion. AngeL & MonsteR were both incredible records to me. I simple adore XXKK, Killer Monster & No One on MonsteR, but maybe they hit different as someone who understands/is fluent in Japanese. I realized I appreciate a lot of her songs now because of the lyrics after being able to understand everything. Heart is also a great record. Walk of My Life & (re)CORD were also really well done. I think she puts so much effort into her work and you can tell by the lyrics that a lot of these records are probably really important to her. She deserves to more recognized for her work in Japan and play bigger stages. Sure, she makes a lot of music, but I think she genuinely enjoys it and its not because avex is telling her to or something. She now has a home studio so she can make music anytime. I think its a wonderful thing as a fan.

I'm not even sure it has to do with language per se. My Japanese isn't well enough to follow all the lyrics while listening, but AngeL + MonsteR [My Name Is...] and re(CORD) are some of my favourites. I feel it's also people who fell in love with that sound of the time (which was also more separate from western music than it is now thanks to internationalization), but as trends change and time passes people try new things and their music sounds different and not like what it was when they got into it. That change (or any big change really) can give negative reactions out of people. Most complains started at Bon Voyage, which is the album where there was clearly more modern western music influence getting in her music, and then again when heavier EDM influences where added with re(CORD) and AngeL + MonsteR [My name is...]. At the same time those records also got stronger praise from others. Because they're changing things up more extremely they simply create stronger opinions both way.
