geçen haftaIf they want to call themselves true Scottish pirate metal then why didn’t they call the band that instead of Alestorm and i never said Swashbuckle and Alestorm sound the same. But Alestorm definitely stole the idea of singing about pirates from Swashbuckle. They should be called copy cat Scottish pirate metal from now on. lol
-
stupidPity şunu yazdı:
geçen hafta@goffaar Swashbuckle and Alestorm are completely different. Alestorm invented their sound by blending power and folk metal and which I like to call true scottish pirate metal too, WHILE SWASHBUCKLE IS THRASH METAL with lyrics about pirates. Nothing in the world sounds anything like Alestorm, so they have the right to call themselves true scottish pirate metal and that's finall!

geçen hafta@shofman- I’ve already expressed my opinion on their ‘label’...but here we go again. They have described themselves as true Scottish pirate metal just to get people on the internet to click on their page. It’s a publicity stunt just like when Britney Spears shaved off her hair or when Amy Winehouse overdosed on drugs. It’s just to get noticed, so people will buy stuff.

geçen hafta@CorporalDoug- i looked up keelhauled and was quite shocked to find i recognise the intro. It sounds very similar to the music from the opening scene of a cartoon series called The Pirates of Dark Water. i know that because my kids watched it all the time... the part of the intro with the violin, imagine that bit but at about half the tempo. That is the Opening music to The Pirates of Dark Water.

geçen haftavv Who gives a shit? They sing songs about pirates, the singer is from Scotland, hence true Scottish pirate metal. If we want to call their music that, let us.

geçen haftaI saw swashbuckle live a couple of years ago and during there set someone insulted alestorm. Swashbuckle responded by playing the intro to keelhaul and told the fan to fuck off.

geçen ay@Dhracian. Swashbuckle released a demo of their fist album in 2005. Then they released the album (Crew by the Dammed) in 2006. Battleheart released their first EP Terror on the high seas in 2006 and didn’t release their first album (Captain Morgan’s Revenge) under the band name Alestorm until 2008. I think pirate obsessed Alestorm had plenty of time to steal Swashbuckle’s 'music style' which is just folk metal anyway. Also Metallica have released plenty of material and a lot of it is not thrash metal either, so don’t call the band thrash metal just because most of their music is thrash metal. The trick is to describe the style of music not the band. There is no such thing as a thrash metal band never mind a pirate metal band.

geçen ay@goffar if you didn't know new genres are invented when a band creates a band label!
-
Dhracian şunu yazdı:
geçen ay@goffaar: Alestorm started in 2004, Swashbuckle in 2005. And saying Alestorm "stole" the idea of "Pirate Metal" from Swashbuckle is like saying Slayer stole the idea of Thrash metal from Metallica.
-
goffaar şunu yazdı:
geçen ayCalling themselves pirate metal is a publicity stunt and they stole the idea from swashbuckle or whatever the other pirate metal band is called. Band labels are annoying and stop bands from gaining new inspiration and evolving their style. Regardless of that i hope you enjoy their show in spring.
-
dick_long1 şunu yazdı:
geçen ay@goffaar if these guys want to call themselves pirate metal, by all means I say why not. Who cares what it's called? As long as it's entertaining and enjoyable to the listener that's all that matters. Personally I find this band awesome, and I really look forward to seeing them with Turisas in the spring. And you shouldn't worry about the followers following other followers, they will always be there in every genre of music. That's a battle you'll never win. Besides, I listen to a lot of metal and can vouch that Alestorm does not sound like every other metal band.

goffaar şunu yazdı:
geçen ayNope apparently it’s called pirate metal, despite the fact that there is no such thing as pirate metal. The music sounds just the same as any other metal genre. It kinda zaps the fun out of metal when you’ve got to learn the difference between all the genres. Seriously at the end of the day all it comes down to is that the fans just end up following the followers to band branding land. People should stop referring to silly band genres pronto... metal will be improved by this act alone.

Aralık 2011@ZadionApocalaya: you should listen Black Sails at Midnight and Captain Morgan's Revenge, since the Alestorm-fans are having an endless discussion about which of those two is the best. In my opinion Black Sails wins, but whatever. Just check 'em both, they're genius

Aralık 2011At least they're unique. And so far I love most stuff done by them, and many people think it's cool so it's obviously successful, especially while they remain the only such band.
-
goffaar şunu yazdı:
Aralık 2011@Shadeslay3r When a band labels themselves ‘True Scottish Pirate Metal’ you just know straight away how limited their scope of creativity is going to be. ‘Rehashed Scottish Pirate Metal’ is a much more fitting genre. I really can’t see what this band hopes to contribute to the folk metal scene by following the same pirate metal theme forever.
-

Aralık 2011"can't stand it when metal bands try to make up their own genres It’s a total publicity stunt and only cretins would think its cool" Mr. Retard, how do you think metal genres were founded in the first place? By everyone following the same pattern since forever?
