get hold of their B-Side album to Weekend in the City ... it was the original first draft and then they scrapped it. Personally its the closest they ever got to matching the sound of Silent Alarm

Like I said, don't get me wrong I really enjoyed Intimacy. Letters To My Son is one of their best songs ever and Signs, Better Than Heaven, etc. are great tracks. However, Silent Alarm was a masterpiece to me and I just don't like the departure they've taken from it. They are still great, but in their most recent work, I've only heard 'hints' of that greatness. But hey I think we can all agree that nearly all of Bloc Party's music is better than most bands best music. Anyways, I await a 4th album with excitement.

Experimenting is all well and good when you produce good music out of it. And Russell and Tong are amazing amazing musicians, and they just don't have room to show it with the new stuff anymore :(

@foolishwolf i got in touch with BP with "one more chance", and i like it. but i hate when bands go like "we need to experiment" and start to do shit that aint nothing to do with they 1st style. (keane, killers...)

It has its good parts for sure. But it really comes off as pretentious and overdone. Why have all these dance beats and shit when Matt Tong is an AMAZING drummer, which was properly displayed on Silent Alarm? It's like they are changing their sound, because "that's what bands do", because they have to "experiment". To hell with that. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And by all accounts their older b-sides and Silent Alarm required NO FIXING. They are jumping the shark.

if you havnt heard their b-sides you need to. they could be albums themselves. they SHOULD be albums themselves, theyre that good. especially silent alarm and pre silent alarm b-sides. <3 the marshals are dead.
