Off the hook? ..Yeah, by all means!P Almost all means, anyway... Must admit when i first heard CSS debut album, about 3/4 of a circle round the Sun ago, i didn't guess Off The Hook would become one of the Megahits of the album.. but look at the iTunes popularity column - only Let's Make L... triumphs it.. sometimes it's so ok to be wrong!)
OTH was one of the last songs played that night at Concorde2 and by that time most people started to realize there was a surprise bonus for all who made it inside the venue. Free sauna was included for all who dared to move, if you know what i mean... as the air was gradually approaching cooking temperatures, an appetiser was offered by Lovefoxxx: "Let's have fish&chips and listen to Hot Chip " ...Yeah, we did like that ;D
By the way, Hot Chip's amazing remix of Let's Make Love has got to be the most creative re-make of a song i've heard this year so far. Just compare it to the original! ...damn, i'll eventually get involved in some noize-makin' under the influence of all this, dqqdq..
Something worth mentioning.. after instruments & cables were taken off stage after the show, CSS kept on blazing through the night with a great DJ set, something about which a lot of people initially didn't have a clue it was going to take place. A few words dropped by promoters on a paper-sheet here and there would have remedied that. As for the DJ set ..fancy Bjork's Innocence speeded up to a techno-tempo or Wolf Like Me miraculously blended in with current hottest tracks? Just b curious enough 2b "in the know" to show up
Oh, and for those who don't know yet, there is this nifty & not-so-little (to say the very least!) website called csstrash.org which seems to be kept really up-to-date
Among other goodies there are some crystal-clear quality vids from gigs at Paradiso and Jools Holland!, some really good artworks by Lovefoxxx, AND.. check out some shatteringly incredible documentation from a recent half-secret joint CSS&Gossip show that has taken place at Roadhouse in Manch... Make sure you put your seat-belt on for viewing... Argh.. didn't put yr computer-seat-belt on? ...Under the table with cramped abs? ...Told ya!
Have you seen such an on-stage mayhem yet? Or LVFX going from air-guitar to an apparently finely-tuned leg-guitar? And much more?
...damn, events like this going on in Manchester only? ..on top of all that is already going on there? ..guess i should be waking up in that city more...
&To make this complete, there is this video on YT, of course, called "Gossip and CSS go mad", which captures the glory, including Beth's horizontal take on "Standing In the Way of Control" and ooh.. that voice again!! C'mon Beth, admit it.. does it taste ok when you sip on blended amplifiers before the showz, instead of the usual singer's honey?
