Noise rock? Industrial? Perhaps a No Wave influence, but not a part of the genre. I think the tag 'Rock' is about the only safe bet for this group. Maybe Post Post-punk? At any rate, they were a great band and an influence to many others.

I got into these guys after hearing S.Y.L's 'Room 429' cover on the City record. 'Ask Questions Later' is one of my favourite albums nowadays. Very good and incredibly underrated

I'm really surprised that C$C goes by the indie rock label. Industrial doesn't fit too well, but at least it has some grounding in the custom percussion and tape experiments of their early work.
