When I bought the LP back in -86, I found some songs a bit strange (mind you, I was only 13), but now I love every track. Depeche Mode at their best - a true classic!

Their best indeed. This one and Music for the masses are definitely my favorite albums...MFTM has more songs that I like,but the songs I like from BC are better than those from MFTM XD So it's a tie.

Will always be my favourite DM album. I really got into DM in a big way around Shake The Disease, & the first album I bought was The Singles 81-85. This album blew me away when it came out - I loved the cover, the 'communist' sytle symbols, and the sound was like nothing else i'd heard. I loved the fact that they sampled alot of sounds on this, it seemed very revoulutionary at the time. I went to see them perform this live & they were amazing. I'll never forget the opening, them starting behind a black curtain, bashing those metal stands they had & then the curtain dropping & the crowd going mad. Great memories!

Some people used to tell me DM were depressing and all the usual s--t they say about them. Then, I listened to this album, and it scared me! But I love it - never had dark sounded so beautiful and enticing.
