Fri 26 Jun – Summerfest 2009, June 26th

Another hawt, sweaty day. Didn't get there until around 3 this time, which was fine by me.

Checked out several bands at the Cascio stage, which is a small stage consisting of local (Wisconsin) acts. Watched Beach Patrol first. They were pretty decent actually, everyone was really into it... except one of their guitarists. He literally stood there like a statue while the other 3 guys were seizuring all over the stage.

Next up, at the same stage, was certain stars. They had a decent sized following with tons of family there, sporting some CS shirts. They were... not my bag. It was just straightforward rock but nothing catchy really, at all. Bass player/lead singer was pretty fun to watch though.

After that, I made my way to the Harley Davidson stage, not knowing I'd soon embark on a 6 hour adventure of dealing with irish punk, kilts, spiked hair, and 27 year olds making out with 14 year olds. First band I saw was Flatfoot 56. Fun and really super energetic. Bass player looked like a kid I go to school with. Next was The Tossers. They had NO electric guitar at all, but still came off heavy for what they were. They also had a woman rockin it on the violin in each song. Also should note that every male member of the band smoked about 2 packs of cigarettes during their set.

Lastly was Dropkick Murphys. Basically everyone was there for them, I guess. Kids went absolutely apeshit. Saw lots of people that should be embarrassed about themselves. I'm actually really glad I saw them though, as even though I don't listen to them or this style of music, it was something new and actually really awesome seeing a band with so many members go nuts in every song. They even played a cover of Teenage Wasteland as their encore.

This really wasn't what I expected...

And then a fly flew right to my mouth and I made quite interesting noise ( something between a cough and a roar) And unfortunately I was just passing this old couple when this evil fly attacked and I somehow had managed to drop my headphones off from my ears to my neck so I heard when that old man started to explain to his friend "Oh, dear lord, did you hear, that girl growled to me ! Teenagers are so horrible nowadays"
