except Perfect Symmetry was released before the first DT album. and we know that the guys in DT (especially Mike) are Fates fans, so i'd say DT has a FW influence to them. hell, john and jim even helped to get DT their first record deal.

Fates Warning are one of the most original, creative and genuinely progressive bands out there. Lumping them in with all the show-offy generic prog metal bands is just laziness on journalists' and listeners' part, and a great disservice to their independent spirit. They've kept evolving from album to album, always remaining inventive and writing ambitious yet emotionally powerful songs. As much as I like OSI I hope Matheos will find the time and the inspiration for a new FW album as soon as possible!

I absolutely agree with the dissapointment of seeing Fates songs being so underrated...It's a shame having in mind that these quys are making their music with so much inteligence,depth,beauty,emotions and thoughts,that i am just inspired by them.Some say that they are very close to Maiden,in some ways copying from them,others just keep seeing them as "the worse progressive band in comparison with Dream theatre.".I think that Fates Warning are amazing,they are changing my everydaylife,it nearly seems like i feel their music that much,that if i was a musician i would probably sing in the same way and about the same things..I LOVE YOU,FATES!!!

That's because that Rush cover is the only streamable track. Most people get to know Fates only by that cover. The full-length albums are not very well-known. Not even on last.fm. I agree, there should be FW albums in the last.fm radio. Maybe all of them, this band really deserves it

Why is this band not well known? They started early enough, the music is excellent, and they make heavy enough metal to be of interest to both thrash metal (Metallica/Megadeth) and classic metal (Maiden-like) fans. i heard of those bands like 10 years ago and i'm discovering Fates now! Well, better late than never.

Yeah, Awaken The Guardian is a really great album! Only albums i really like with the other singer is A Pleasant Shade of Gray and No Exit, gotta listen more to the other cds sometime... FWX is the only album i felt... well it wasn't that good :/

Screw the later stuff. Just listen to Awaken The Guardian over and over again, like I do. Throw The Spectre Within on once in a while for good measure, and you'll be all set.

Look after The Apparition, Through Different Eyes, Fata Morgana, Valley of the Dolls, Kyrie Eleison, Eye top Eye, Leave the Past Behind.. These are all 10/10 for me. Yeah, I'm a stupid fanboy, but I like it that way:D

I have decided to let this band become one of my favorites, they have all the necessary quality's to succeed with it (technical skills, great singer/s, overall good albums, many awesome songs and so on)... Haven't heard them so much yet but they sounds better the more i listen to them :) Hope I can find some favorite songs soon!
