Modern version of Quadrophenia.

salmonsson_ şunu yazdı:
Some classic songs like American Idiot, Jesus, St. Jimmy, Letterbomb and Whatsername. But not a classic album all the way through though, at least not in my opinion.

westonelchulo şunu yazdı:
Really? This has more scrobbles then "Dookie"?
-
james_cfc şunu yazdı:
I don't like it. I think they totally changed, for the worse. Insomniac and before ftw.
-
carlos_el şunu yazdı:
I'm pretty sure that if any other band had made this album, everyone would consider it a classic. It's a great album, even if it is very different.
-
johnnyhc şunu yazdı:
this album is great, but definitely it's not their best. there are insomniac, dookie and kerplunk that rock more than this
-
johnnyhc şunu yazdı:
@camiscool: isn't it "Wake me up..."??
-
Dookiac şunu yazdı:
I know there's a story to it, I know the story anyway, I am fully aware that it is a concept album, but that doesn't make it any better lyrically. Boulevard is the most cliche song ever, "I walk a lonely road..." Green Day changed their sound from Punk to ballad rock and in some cases mainstream rock, but I don't mind that. I'd just probably like it more if I didn't hear it so fucking much.

Hey, don't blame me, I've always found the lyrics on this one to be really appealing. But, I know that you've never been a fan of AI, so I'll just shut up now. Plus, I've listened to this album so many times I can explain just about every little detail about the "story".

Dookiac şunu yazdı:
"Def. their best album lyrically." Fuck no.
-
GOP_STOP şunu yazdı:
Вот это я понимаю !!!! Good !!!
-
Nourez şunu yazdı:
Def. their best album lyrically. Musically it's good, but their older stuff was better. How on earth anyone can rate it as the best album ever though, I fail to understand. Its good, but not that good.

This album is like the "nevermind" for the emos.
-
Nourez şunu yazdı:
If I'm not mistaken, the European release consolidated all the songs that fade into one another into one song, hence the wonky track listings.

If you think something's overplayed then, y'know, don't listen to the radio or watch music channels on television. Fuck's sake.

Guess people wouldn't bitch so much about this album if it didn't have so many radio-friendly songs :P I like it anyways.
-
Model_N17 şunu yazdı:
best rock album ever.

Gowienczyk şunu yazdı:
A mixture of Warning and Nimrod, who'd think it'd get so much bashing. Heh. Go figure.

great music... green day is still punk not because of their music but because of their attitude... just look at their side projects

Haha, 90% of the users participating in this shoutbox (arguing that this is the best album evaaar) are between 13 and 18 years old, wow, what a fucked up generation...

matrix is completely right. I stopped listening to this album for awhile because I couldn't stand all the songs being force-fed to me all through the media, but recently I got back into it. It tells a great story that I can definitely relate to and the music itself is pretty good to. It's obviously different than what you'd expect from Green Day, and I hate the fact that it was promoted so much and gobbled up by the mainstream, but it's still a brilliant album. I actually don't listen to it too much and it's far from my favorite of theirs (I'd much rather listen to Dookie, Insomniac, or Nimrod), but it's their most "intelligent" album, and probably their best from a technical standpoint.

skullcandy84 şunu yazdı:
Everyone hates this album because of a MAKEOVER, and last time I checked Green Day wasn't that shallow so why should their fans be? this album is as awesome as thier older stuff just give it a chance people
-
Capz-Lock şunu yazdı:
why is it everytime a band changes there style up a lil bit ppl start bashing there still punk gawd jesus of suburbia is epic
-
matrix_hiei şunu yazdı:
Oddly enough, I usually can't stand mainstream music, I'm not a fan of older Green Day (other than "Brain Stew" and a few other exceptions), and yet I think this is a phenomenal album. Very misunderstood, both by the people who bash it without giving it a chance and by the people who listen to it without paying attention to story of the album. This is more than just a political punk album. It's a damn good concept album, and one that has unfortunately been misinterpreted and misunderstood by the mainstream audience that has fallen in love with it.

This is s t i l l a really good album, but also a perfect example how promoting too much can make a popular band t o o popular, and in result d e s p i s e d by fans of their previous efforts. Pity.
