good songs but bad vocal choice. Ripper has amazing voice but doesnt know how to sing a song. Some songs are pressed by bad vocal colour of him. He makes the vocal partitions extended more than enough and it grate on the ear

This was my second IE album after Something Wicked (got them at the same time, actually) and I never looked back. My favourite 'modern' IE album and one of my all-time favourites.

The only album with Tim Owens on vocals that I liked. Both of the ones after this were subpar, though that was more Shaeffer's fault than Owens's.

@Razorfist: I do dislike lyrics like Saxon's Crusader just as much (not as much Britannia Rules lyrics, but more about the murdering lot of Crusaders being glorified). But Maiden!? You mean Ices High perhaps? This one song (and not even that glorifying I feel)... was based on a movie (and book!?). Just like many other song Maiden made (The Trooper). Nevertheless, it is all about the tone of the lyrics and music. Just a tad too much for me... too much America hallelujah...

Time and time again I tried to listen to this album, but I just will not grow on me. Few good songs on this one: Greenface, The Reckoning, Red Baron... but the patriotic thing is just too much for me ("The sleeping giant, is asleep no longer"... my ass). Not just the subject, which is just fine (history wise), but the glorious music and lyrics, glorifying America... god damn... would have made a fine solo album perhaps, but to release it as Iced Earth... no thank you!
