97’ Yılında Bostonda kurulan ISIS ambience,tone,agressive ve atmosphere metali birleştirerek kendilerine özgü bir metal türü yaratmışlardır.Müzikleri genellikle yeniden yapılandırma üzerine ağırlık veren uzun şarkılardan oluşur.ISIS kimi eleştirmenlere göre bir post-rock grubudur ki bu da grubun geleneksel chorusları verseleri sert riffleri ve boğuk vokallere önem verdiğini gösterir.Bazılarına göre ise daha çok bir hardcore/sludge yada hardcore-oriented grubu olarak görülür.Müziklerini geliştiren elementleri sorduklarında ise verdikleri cevap:»Biz müziğimizde Hardcore,Sludge,Drone,Ambient ve Post-Rock’ı birleştirdik»tir. Ancak hala daha müziklerini kesin bi şekilde tarif edebilen olmamıştır.Aaron Turner’a sorulduğunda ise «ISIS bir avant-garde,drone-oriented grubu fakat riffler hiç bi zaman bassları kapatmaz.» ifadesini kullanır.

Bu yüzden grubun hayranları ve bir kesim eleştirmen ISIS’e post-metal grubu demişlerdir.Türlerine benzeyen gruplara ise:

-Cult of Luna
-Rosetta

I don't understand why they aren't coming to the UK for this tour. I'm sure they have a massive fanbase over here. They are practically visiting most of Europe apart from us. Anybody know if they have plans to come to the UK in the future?
