She has perfect control of her voice. Listen to the perfectly pitched squeal at the start of 'Only Skin', or the finger-wagging cadences on 'Peach, Plum, Pear' ("...to in-ter-pret your looks"). She reminds me of Joni Mitchell for how much personality she can put into a vocal performance.

I never get tired of recommending Joanna to people, and with nearly 20 years of loving music I consider her last two records to be in the top 10 I have ever heard - ha-ha I'm not sure I;ve maanged to convert very many people - it is their loss, I mean it isnt exactly music like Trout Mask Replica is it?! I look forward to all her future work with genuine excitment (which you dont get with most bands these days)
