Madness Love and Mysticism is great, his other classical stuff ranges from mediocre to very good. But it's definitely not his best work.

Am I in the vast minority in thinking that Zorn's "classical" works outshine his other works? I LOVE Magick, madness love and mysticism, mysterium, rituals, the string quartets, aporias, and stuff like that WAAAAY more than i like like Naked City, Six Litanies (or any of his MP stuff), and things like that. It's not to say I don't LIKE these other albums, just I really enjoy his avant-classical stuff. Quite a lot.

Nabraxas, the only reason I don't recommend The Big Gundown as a good starting place for Zorn is that it's all covers. Still one of his best, though.
