The other day I came across a pretty interesting articles about a study that had been done in the UK relating the type of music that people listen to to their personality traits. While a lot of the results may not be too surprising, it's interesting to see an actual professional study done about it.

Personally the result was pretty much dead-on. Being a big fan of both rock/metal, classical, and combinations of the two, the different personality traits for each type really match up with me. Personally I wasn't really that surprised in the similarity between metal and classical. Most people will stereotype listeners of both styles based on the image or what they think about it without actually paying attention to or knowing anything about what actually matters matters; the music. Both styles are very similar in their structure as well as the amount of talent and virtuosity that goes into the mastering of songwriting and playing the instruments in these styles. I heard someone say once that if Beethoven was alive today he'd be in Led Zeppelin or something like that...

I guess I'm not alone in getting strange looks when I tell someone I like classical music and metal.

Eccomi qua, con un nuovo account...
Il perché del nuovo account non è molto complesso: i miei gusti musicali sono cambiati.
Anche se ogni tanto mi piace andare a ripescare qualche brano rock melodico, ora il mio genere prediletto è cambiato. ho quindi "abbandonato" gruppi come Linkin Park, Nickelback, Hoobastank e Yellowcard, i quali ora fanno parte di un passato dolce da ricordare in quanto quelle sono le band che mi hanno "iniziato" alla musica rock e metal, e terrò sempre dei bei ricordi quando sentirò delle loro canzoni, nuove e vecchie.

Ma ogni tanto ti accorgi che è tempo di andare avanti, di lasciarti i ricordi alle spalle e di evolverti, anche musicalmente parlando. E così un giorno mi sono detto "sai cosa? provo ad ascoltare il power metal". E' stata la mossa che le mie orecchie aspettavano, è stato amore a prima nota; da ormai tre mesi ho ascoltato solo gruppi power metal o comunque più potenti di quelli ascoltati in precendeza; mi sono quindi gettato nell'ascolto di gruppi più ruggenti quali i mitici Rhapsody, (ora conosciuti come Rhapsody of Fire), Guano Apes, Avantasia, Kamelot, Stone Sour e altri.

Tuttavia, qualcosa è rimasto. Alcuni gruppi fantastici non ho nemmeno pensato ad abbandonarli. Gli Alter Bridge, per esempio, da me scoperti su RockTV grazie al video di Broken Wings, sono una parte di me.. quando sento le note di una loro canzone mi vibra l'anima e il mio cuore batte allo stesso ritmo della musica.. è una cosa indescrivibile come alcuni gruppi abbiano il potere di farti sentire DENTRO le loro canzoni, e gli Alter Bridge sono per me uno di quei gruppi (assieme ai Rhapsody of Fire).
Discorso simile per i Dream Theater; anche con loro sento quell'armonia che esce dalle loro canzoni per entrare dentro di me e ovviamente non mi è mai passato per la testa di abbandonare un gruppo così fantastico.


Tempo di novità e di cambiamenti musicali, quindi, coronati 10 minuti fa quando ho dato vita al gruppo chiamato "Rhapsody (of Fire) Italia", un gruppo che ha come idea di raccogliere tutti noi fan italiani dei mitici Rhapsody, una delle poche band metal a renderci orgogliosi di essere italiani.
Non so come andrà questo piccolo "esperimento", spero bene.. per ora incrociamo le dita e continuiamo a sentirci in armonia con le canzoni dei nostri miti. Con le canzoni dei nostri nuovi miti.
