I think what happens is that LUNA SEA is more popular "worldwide", internationally, especially outside Asia. (also things like their band name, album and song titles are all in English will make them more acceptable in the Western world) but speaking in local Japan alone, Ryuichi is for sure more popular than LUNA SEA in Japan. tickingtock is right. Ryuichi appears more often on TV, he even had experience acting for a TV drama (minor role) but the more important is that he sings Pop. So I am not surprised if you find that surprising! In Japan, pop singers and "musicians" are very different (musicians kind of work behind the scene). Ryuichi chose to be a pop singer. If u understand what I mean here.

well you know how Jpop dominates Japan then Jrock/Visual Kei.True Ryuichi never had a chance (yet) to have a concert in Tokyo Dome byhimself,but if you ask people in Japan,like do you know Luna Sea and do you know Kawamura Ryuichi?or like telling them I like Luna Sea then sometimes you have to explain that was the band where Ryuichi as vocalist,so most of them simply know or recognize Ryuichi first then Luna Sea.Also it's simply because Luna Sea is kinda old band.And compared to other members,Ryuichi appeared more often in TV (ok,that's probably irrelevant,lol).And no please,I am not here to make argument too,in fact I am open with any discussions xD.My friends and I always has different terms between popular and famous,popular means it is favored by general public,in terms of music Ryuichi's much more accepted since he's jpop while famous means it has gained acknowledgment,notable (hope you I understand what I mean xD ).

It's hard to believe that RYUICHI is more famous than LUNA SEA, i'm not arguing with you about this or saying that your information is a lie, it's because LUNA SEA sold out Tokyo Dome three times without even sweating, and RYUICHI alone still couldn't do this (yet).

hmm.. looking at the statistics, "SHINE" and "SINGLES" were the only two LUNA SEA albums that were awarded "Million" in Japan~~~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recording_Industry_Association_of_Japan But "MOTHER" is also a good album XD

"their album "SHINE" was certainly their biggest hit" <- rly? o.o I thought of "Mother" as the album with most commercial and critical acclaim. But certainly if I talk about my 3 favoritestest (?) LUNA SEA albums, they're definitely Mother, Shine and Lunacy (kind of a prog rock fan here, you understand xD)

That is indeed a fact, his solo album "Love" is the best-selling Japanese male solo album to date, this record still hasn't been broken in over 10 years. and becoz Ryuichi performed on "1997 紅白歌合戦" (an important music round-up TV show in Japan). His popularity has risen significantly, not only attracting teenage fans, but also older age group. (While LUNA SEA didnt get invited to perform there until 1998. LS's first was in 1998, performing I For You). When LS came back in 1998. Their popularity was "WOW", now they have got more fans (older age group ppl who only knew Ryuichi as a solo singer), and was the highest point of LS, their album "SHINE" was certainly their biggest hit. So Ryuichi, more or less, has helped to rise the popularity of LUNA SEA.

similar artists are generated by user's listening habbit... it entirely depends on us! Now it seems that most LUNA SEA listeners dun really listen to Ryuichi's songs (aka not frequent). so he isnt on the list lol, it is probably becoz LS is Rock where as Ryuichi sings Pop. and not all Rock lovers can stand Pop sound...

ITs might go by genre, Inoran, J sugizo, Hide are all rock types. While Ryuichi at times is a pop type. And rock beats pop types XP

btw I am actually not familiar with last.fm,but how do you put an artist on similar artist above?Coz I don't see Ryuichi there,if it is based on high similarity with Luna Sea's music than why J,Sugizo and Inoran there?or even hide (I don't think his music similar with LS),I just find it's weird cause in Japan itself,Ryuichi is the most popular among other LS members (lol,he even more popular than Luna Sea)...........

meh,INORAN is not shy like he used to be,in his solo concerts he was proved that he can be energetic and funny as well.I think if he didn't say a word like in LUNA SEA OND was becoz he just wanted to keep his image as "the quiet and cool guitarist of LUNA SEA".Yeah SUGIZO's blog post was really long this time especially 'bout the politics one,and he also congratulated Ryuichi for the newborn baby.

I kinda 50-50,in one hand I think they should reunite for a world tour (cause the only overseas concert they had were Hongkong and Taiwan concert in 2000),also they shld make a new song with their newly increased skill and experience (I can't wait to hear that if that happen),but in the other hand,if they don't ready to reunite they shouldn't reunite at all,I don't want they destroy their image as legendary band esp if later the outcome isn't as what as expected,if that's the case they should leave Luna Sea as it is.

I bet their doing it in secret. All hush hush, two or 3 practices, a new song here and there then boom! A live special event ! With guest and Glay ( that would be sweet) and at the end they well announce their releasing a new album just just in time for Christmas :) . Oh man that would be great! and the event would be called The two night Revival . Im getting excited about something im making up lol

Yes its on PERIOD but its a rerecorded version of wish, while the one on COMPLETE BEST is the original from the album IMAGE. It sounds really good. alot clearer and the instruments blend much better then in the originals..pretty much it cut out the indie sound all together

I think the only remastered version of WISH is on PERIOD BEST?, theres an additional section where INORAN plays a bit solo... its a very enjoyable track!!
