I like this album quite a bit and find myself returing to jt a lot, but don't really understand the hype of it each time in the lens of it being THE greatest hip-hop album ever.

this literally has everything possible. the god tier rapping of DOOM and the diverse and experimental yet flawless production from madlib amongst many more things i can't name. without a doubt the GOAT hip hop album of the 2000s hands down

I really don't know what it is about this album, but I just never get tired of it. It's easily my favorite/most played album of all time. Every track on this album is spot on. Madlib kills it with his raw production and MF DOOM's complex rapping will have you reading every single line, trying to understand the deeper meaning behind his lyrics. Never heard anything remotely like it, and it pisses me off that I will probably never find another album more enjoyable than Madvillainy lol. I hope one day Madlib will release Madvillainy 2 in honor of MF DOOM. May he rest in peace.

its truly indescribable how much this album means to me, as the first id ever hear by a friend after the news of DOOM's unfortunate passing. at first i couldnt understand it at all but once i did i would never be the same person since. and for that i practically owe my life to this album as it practically formed me into the person i am today. so thank you DOOM, Madlib, & especially Oliver for showing me this album and changing my whole life. it only feels better hearing this 1 year later. ❤❤❤

Big thanks to Aaron McGruder's taste in music and decision to include All Caps in an early episode of Boondocks. It took me way, way too long to discover DOOM, and I'd hate to think about how much longer it'd have taken me without All Caps being the background to Huey fighting Bushido Brown.

This album is madness incarnate. The villain's wordplay is top notch here - seriously some of the best bars I've ever heard are spread out through this whole album. Madlib's production just matches the insanity of DOOM so perfectly, and I think this union is perfect. I first listened to this at my friend's house when I was 14 (2004), which wasn't long after this album just came out. This album was my first introduction into underground/alternative hip-hop and shattered everything that I thought I knew about the genre - which at the time admittedly wasn't much as I had only been getting into music for the past two years at this time. But this one always left such a huge mark on me and not many hip-hop albums since have matched the experience I had with this one. One of the best hip-hop albums of all time - if not straight up #1.
