Random cd's i've been listening to
3 Eki 2008, 04:47 yazan blatblatmatt
This is just a list of a bunch of cd's i've listened to lately, that obviously haven't been scrobbled.. because i am a complete scrobble whore.
-The Streets:
>Original Pirate Material
>A Grand Don't Come for Free (not ashamed to admit that i absolutely love it.)
>The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living (eh, it was okay.)
>Everything Is Borrowed
-Jeff Buckley
>Grace
-Superjoint Ritual
>Use Once and Destroy (pretty shit, really. interesting idea though, but it just ends up being bad groovy-black/thrash. plus Phil's vocals dont fit.)
-Pantera
>The Great Southern Trendkill (their one album i've pretty much never listened to. really different from what i remember of it as a kid. not that bad actually.)
-Anthrax
>We've Come for You All (as much as i hate to admit it [which is a hell of a lot], this is a really great album. it is sooo not better than Among the Living though. lawl. it's not allowed to be!!)
-Motörhead
>Ace of Spades (i'd not actually heard this before [apart from a few songs that everyone's heard..] there is actually a slight degree of creativity to this album, which made it that bit cooler. fun listen.) -

WARNING- BAD HUMOR.
Scar Symmetry- If it wasn't for the growls in Holographic Universe, they would be representing Sweden in the next Eurovision contest.
Arch Enemy- Micheal and Chris gangbang Angela. In return she gets to be frontwoman.
Napalm Death- Lyrically, this band thinks they are U2. Being against racism and all, since when do Grindcore bands have lyrics on social matters? it's gotta be about guts, goreand phlegm.
Nine Inch Nails- Trent, cut your hair, your fringe looks so emo. Expressing your feelings in music is gay.
The Berzerker- WOW, YOU PLAY FAST AND LUKE LOOKS LIKE TYSON TOMKO.
Bloodbath- Basically Opeth without clean vocals and any melody.
Motörhead Wow, you guys don't know the meaning of repetition, do you?
Amon Amarth- Vikings no longer exist, stop going on about them. Go watch Time Team if you like that sought of stuff.
Cult of Luna- What the fuck are you saying? stop being so serious, I like Duran Duran too.
Strapping Young Lad- Heavy heavy blah blah, shit album.
Opeth- Making long songs doesn't make all your songs Progressive Metal.
Kings of Leon- Ditching your original British audience in order to get an American audience proves you guys have sold out.
Gorillaz- De La Soul looks like a monkey. Ironically, Damon's new project is called this.
Anaal Nathrakh- I thought you guys were never going to go live? lol Radiohead fanbois.
Tool- You hate your own country, that's a sin.
Muse- Radiohead with better riffs.
Soilwork- Newer stuff is awful, influenced by Creed and Slipknot.
Mastodon- Whale fans?
Van Morrison- You're a Protestant from Northern Ireland and you sing about being proud of your roots. Are you high?
Iron Maiden- They sell more merchandise than Linkin Park.
Boris- These guys rock. (sorry, can't diss)
Carcass- Really fucking stupid that more bands are influenced by your works after Necrotism.
Bolt Thrower- Stop playing WoW, you nerds.
Sonata Arctica- This band is cheesy as fuck. Like cheesier than DragonFarce.
Obie Trice- You rap about crap.
Nirvana- Alice In Chains>Pearl Jam>Nirvana. Fact.
Coffins- Using vocals as an instrument is really dumb.
Deathspell Omega- You guys are like SO Satanic, you believe Satan is God. Wooo, chill.
Paradise Lost- Their newer stuff really isn't as good as their older stuff.
Kadenzza- Hmm...Asian and you make Symphonic Black Metal? pretty fucked up.
My Dying Bride- Aron likes to mumble to himself during live sessions...
Red Hot Chili Peppers- All brilliant musicians, shame not all your songs are brilliant.
Rage Against the Machine- Reading is a shithole, playing there was a bad idea.
Katatonia- I would love to hear Jonas growl for lol's. Probably end up in hospital..
In Flames- "Newer stuff is shit, old stuff is good." Original.
Bethlehem- Newer stuff isn't good at all.
Death- If Chuck was still alive, they probably wouldn't get as much recognition as they do now.
Devin Townsend- His lyrics focus well too much on how HE is feeling, what the weather is like and being crazy.
Vinterland- They probably have so much material, just don't want to release it because they'll lose their "klvt" tag.
Anathema- Read Paradise Lost reason.
Manic Street Preachers- Nick Wire is an awful singer, just let James sing please.
Megadeth- Dave, just play guitar, don't open your mouth.
Absu- You wear Kilts and you're from Texas, wtf?
Dissection- Good band..
Unleashed- There isn't much stuff they do that you can't compare with Dismember and early Grave.
Morgoth- The vocalist likes Obituary, right? sounds exactly like John.
Dismember- They rip off early Entombed alot.
Keane- Use less of the piano and more effects plz.
Bal-Sagoth- Narrating your own songs is lul's
Moby- Bald. -

it's been a long time since i've written one of these, and since, i've gotten waaaaay to much music. I'm gonna try and review everything i've gotten since mid-July if I can remember all of it. let's do this. PS: i realize my reviews suck sometimes, and i'm not just reviewing new stuff. deal with it. UPDATE: this doesn't include the 30+ records I ordered on my birthday. that's another blog entirely.
Blood Duster - Fisting The Dead/Str8outtanorthcote CD - apparently Relapse rereleased all of BD's output on 2 CD's. I had only heard their tracks on the Relapse comp Contaminated 3, which I thought were allright enough. At my school, this dude comes once a week and sells used CDs, and he both the Blood Duster CDs which I got for 5 bucks each, as well as 4 other albums. well anyway, I'm glad I spent only 10 bucks on these because, I really hate this shit. I'm so sick of this genre of death metal that teeters on the verge of being grind but never quite gets there. the fisting the dead album has 53 tracks on it, and drags on forever with standard death metal fare. Str8outtanorthcote, is a little better, the production is much cleaner at least. they also started adding blues scales into the mix. it reminds me of a less talented Soilent Green. There is 3 live covers at the end of the album though, and they cover Anal Cunt's "Radio Hit" which is awesome. that's all that's really worth listening to on here. I'll never listen to these albums again.
I Shit on Your Face/XXX Maniak - split 7": ISOYF is allright enough. pretty standard goregrind though. it's solid and sounds good, unlike most garbage goregrind out their, but it's totally forgettable. they really bring nothing to the table with this record. XXX Maniak are ever worse. boring as fuck goregrind. I really hate this kind of stuff, but the cover of this 7" is to ridiculous to not buy it. track it down and find out what it looks like for yourself.
Agathocles/J. Briglia, L. Butler, D. Schoonmaker, J. Williams (band with no name) - split 7": bit of self promotion with this one. this is my band's split with Agathocles. instead of a review here's the label description of it, considering it's pretty accurate (since I wrote it). Belgian mincecore legends meet upstate New York blackened powerviolence in order to shatter the nerves of the world's populous via audio shock. Agathocles' side is 6 tracks of their special blend of brutal mincecore that blast away at 1000 MPH while Jan spits lyrical venom; calling out fascism, capitalism and the horrors of piss poor grindcore. The flipside is the first vinyl release of J. Briglia, L. Butler, D. Schoonmaker, J. Williams (aka a band with no name). They offer 3 short, grainy blasts of powerviolence meets black metal while swells of harsh noise saturate the recording, tying all 3 tracks together. Limited to 400 copies.
Agathocles/Gorgonized Dorks - split 7": Agathocles deliver another blast of mincecore, that is pretty sick actually. normally i get Agathocles records to hear the other band and sit patiently through their side. this record however, fucking kills. they really sound
