How on earth did they get the guts to release such an objectively ugly album? Are they trying to become the parody of themselves?

I can not believe how much I am still trying really hard to like this band. They keep sucking for like 4 Albums now, and every damn time I give them so many chances. I really try to find the good in their albums, but in comparison to the pre-blackholes-era their music just SUUUUUUCKS

After a few listens im really enjoying the new album a lot except for the first two songs .. i always skip them ... "The Will Of The People" is a like a joke mix of The Beautiful People mixed with Green Day and "Compliance" is like a Van Halen "Jump" parody LOL

"I felt compelled to call this album a Frankenstein’s Monster, stitched together as it is from so many dead appendages. Then I remembered: The monster wanted to live." jesus

New album is dogshit, Verona is the only stand out. The rest just mediocre songs with terrible lyrics.

New Muse is certainly better at being campy and unapologetically unsubtle, if that's your top criteria...

Don't get me wrong, I'd even take The Incident over this. The soullessness that was C/C though...

Yeah, I've revised this assessment after revisiting C/C several months later (and replacing Dignity with the instrumental) lol

Most of the album was background noise for me, except for this song. The lyrics hit a bit close to home. 🙁

I wasn't excited about this album as I was back in 2012 with The 2nd Law. But I admit I am pleasantly surprised with some songs on this release. Verona is a masterpiece.

I didn't like it at all. But somehow after few listens of the whole album I started to like this song too.

Well if you're talking about pretty old times, well, I don't think so. In my opinion BHaR was the last great Muse album, I love each song from this release as much as I love all songs from Showbiz, OoS and Absolution. To be fair I should say that Drones was pretty good too (at first I didn't like The Globalist and Drones, but now I adore them too). But after BHaR there were pretty decent albums which I like (The 2nd Law, Resistance and Simulation Theory), in each album I could find some great songs, but they are not that Muse anymore. I know, bands and people are changing and who am I to judge? After Simulation Theory I was afraid to listen to the new material and it turned out to be not so bad as I expected.

There are bad Muse songs that I like for being Muse, I understand that they want to change, but songs like Get up and Fight and Something human are not on the band's level. The first three albums are amazing and I can't choose which one I like best. The Resistance is a good album, but the songs sound like the old ones, and it took me a while to realize how beautiful exogenesis is. Have you heard Dear Sherlock? The album "II" is like listening to one of Muse between 1999 and 2004, I recommend it.

Well, try for example a very underrated in my opinion release "Blue Blood" by the band called Idiot Pilot. They have only 3 albums, first one is a beautiful mix of rock, 8bit, hardcore and beautiful harmonies, but it can be hard to grasp because of screamo, but anyway I love it. The 2nd release has not so much screamo, try songs like "Retina and the Sky" and "Last Chance". The 3rd release doesn't have screamo at all, so listen to it all, I love it, one of the best releases from 2019 year. Also give a shot and try album "A Strange Education" by the band The Cinematics.

I’m actually surprised you included The 2nd Law on the list, most fans I know don’t like it at all.
