when i was 18 I was living in a squat in Hackney I had a little mini clubman estate with an old 8 track stereo in it.....I was a die hard punk at the time, but you couldn't get punk stuff on 8 track.....they had stopped making them in the late 70's....so you could only find them in charity shops, and bootfairs.....anyway this introduced me to a whoile new world of music.....including Neil Young.....I have been a massive fan ever since......but her always reminds me of scotting around the east end of London in my wee blue mini! :-)

Alejnu, that's the line that gets me too!! Also flying mother nature's silver seed to a new home. There's something very, very moving and beautiful about this song, I love the mournful French horn, which has the same effect on me as the French horn on You Can't Always Get what You Want by the Stones

In his extensive biography on Mr. Young, author Jimmy McDonough reveals that After the Goldrush was an album loosely conceptualized around a screenplay of the same named written by child star, and Neil Young neighbor, Dean Stockwell. Apparently the only 2 songs on the album that are based on the as-yet-unproduced screenplay are this song and "Crippled Creek Ferry," the closing song on the album. http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=3984

Love love love this song ... so pretty ... Neil's pure high voice & the beautiful piano background .... just a classic of his, pretty much defines one of the truly great songwriters of last 50 years.
