Introduction

The large amount of rock and artists leagues, that range from the UK to Poland, the US to Japan, are the new way for Last.fm users to really say who are the best artists from a particular country. Perfect for our large community of music stat-heads, they are based on football (soccer) leagues but have taken their own life with great success, constantly improving and exponentially growing in numbers. Ultimately they give you, the humble Last.fm user, and the chance to say "my favourite band is best!", so come and join in!

The Leagues

There are many different leagues in the FIRA ring and is growing with strong numbers of member’s aswell.

These leagues are often in the same set of rules than each other but the leagues work a little differently. So always read the rules before starting your votes, but the main thing is to have fun and vote for the artists you believe in the most.

The Italian League

The Italian League is run by myself and has just started in this ring. So, I would be greatly thankful for any user to join me and the others in the Italian leagues. Now, I need users to pick there favourite 10 artists in the Qualify thread. This means whatever artists that come in the top 20 of the voters vote will go into the Serie A for the first season and the other top 22 will go to Serie B. So have you got a favourite in mind and want them to be in the Rock and Metal artist leagues? Hop on down, join and play! You won’t regret it.

The British League

The British League is ran by the intellectually enhanced British resident Gilaventi. He has been running the British League for over a year now and have completed a very successful two seasons. They have just successfully entered the third season of the British artists league, so travel down there and join up!

German Leagues

The fantastical tYhJyYsRuLeS is the creator and leader of the German League and also creating the artist league game itself! The German league has been going since April 2008 and has completed two seasons. So, like German rock artists or know a lot of them? Get down there!

The Spanish League

Impressionante a curiosidade humana.

Vendo a nova propaganda do Renault Mégane, reparei na música do comercial. Achei muito “foda”, então fui pesquisar e acabei encontrando uma banda fantástica... chamada SCANNERS (tô ouvindo na pressão).

A música que aparece no comercial é Bombs (Le Castle Vania Remix), mas a versão do álbum: Scanners - Bombs Remixes EP (2007). A original está no álbum: Scanners - Violence Is Golden (2006).

1. How did you get into 29? (Badly Drawn Boy)
Parents thought his The Hour of Bewilderbeast album was genius and thought I should have a listen. Like them, I loved that album, but never have been really able to get into his other work.

2. What's the first song you ever heard by 22? (Arcade Fire)
Rebellion(Lies)for sure. Heard them play it on a music awards show and was instantly obsessed with their energy.

3. What's your favorite lyric by 33? (The Beatles)
Wow possibly impossible.

4. How did you get into 49? (The Rakes)
My friend Kevin actually recommended them. Great recommendation.


5. How many albums by 13 do you own? (Daft Punk)
I have the big four (in my opinion): Alive 2007, Discovery, Human After All, and Homework.

6. What is your favorite song by 50? (Susumu Hirasawa)
The Girl in Byakkoya - White Tiger Field, of course. Can listen to that song on endless repeat...

7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad? (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah)
Yeah! Some Loud Thunder cause of the way they chose to record it! WHY CYHSY?! Your guys first album is one of the best I've ever heard... and yet your second flubbed big time :( (Sadness)

8. What is your favorite song by 15? (Billy Talent)
Oh that's tough... I always had a soft spot for Standing in the Rain and River Below, but recently I've been obsessed with Lies. Dont know, one of those probably.

9. What is your favorite song by 5? (Arctic Monkeys)
When the Sun Goes Down, it's amazing.

10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy? (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)
Oh so many. Maps is special though.

11. What is the worst song by 40? (Miracle Fortress)
I like them all, but Whirrs would be of the lowest caliber in comparison to the rest of the album.

12. What is your favorite song by 10? (Death Cab for Cutie)
Company Calls in a second. I LOVE Death Cab, and I think all their stuff is amazing, but this song is one of my favourites of any band. So... addicting!

13. What is a good memory you have involving 30? (The Blow)
Discovering them right before my last trip to Whistler, and listening to practically nothing but them the whole way up... and there was one night where I did practically nothing but listen to and sing with Fists Up.

14. What is your favorite song by 38? (Hot Chip)
Haha! Honestly, if I got this question a few weeks ago I could have said Ready for the Floor in a heartbeat, but I've since become obsessed with Out at the Pictures, so I really dont know. Realistically though I have listened to Ready for the Floor many more times than Out at the Pictures so that should technically be it.

15. Is there a song by 19 that makes you happy? (Pixies)
All of their songs make me happy cause their so fucking good, but no, none of them are particularly happy. Oh My Golly! is fun :P

16. Is there a song by 25 that makes you sad? (The Blood Brothers)
All of them, they disbanded :(

17. What is the first song you ever heard by 23? (Talking Heads)
Psycho Killer on their live DVD Stop Making Sense. That was one of the first serious music songs I ever heard if that makes sense. Not just a kid band I mean, but a legit, commercially successful band.

18. What's your favorite lyric by 11? (The Cribs)
"But if you're dying I'd like to know..." Really that whole song is one of my favourite lyrics in my entire collection.

19. Who is a favorite member of 1? (of Montreal)
Ha, no question, Kevin Barnes is one of the most interesting people in music.

21. What is a good memory involving 27? (The Matches)
One of my favourite memories! Standing front row at 2007 Warped Tour and talking to Shawn after the show for a few minutes. Finding out he likes of Montreal as well was a treat :P

Alone, Together, for it's AWESOME guitar parts. So much fun to play along with.

23. What is the first song you ever heard by 47? (The Bravery)
An Honest Mistake on the radio a month before their album release. I went NUTS for that song. So crazy, watched the video on their website almost every day before the album came out. Sadly, overhyped myself for a mediocre album and was seriously dissapointed when I first bought it, but I've since gotten over it and FINALLY started enjoying it.

24. What is your favorite album by 18? (the pillows)
I don't really know them sadly. I only have their compilation on FLCL Vol. 3 really, and THAT is a great album.

25. What is your favorite song by 21? (Radiohead)
Karma Police. Haha, almost every artist you've asked that for, it's been an artist with a song I'd list in a top 20 list.

Have no clue, first song I heard from them I was going, "Hey these guys are pretty good, who the hell are they?".

As an overall album, Her Majesty is pure genius.

Evil was at one time my favourite song ever, so it has to be that. Overall it's just a brilliant song. MASTERFUL!

Not really no, none of them are too cheery cheery that I love. Should have asked me for my favourite lyric :P

Carolyn pointed them out to me, BRILLIANT recommendation, I've really grown to love these guys.

Well That Was Easy I always skip cause it just isn't interesting. Too poppy, no depth.

Damn misscrobbles. Uhm, how about favourite lyric? "And since there's no one else around, we let our hair grow long, and forget all we used to know. Then our skin gets thicker from living out in the snow." Honestly though, Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) is MY FAVOURITE LYRIC EVER.

The Mending of the Gown, and damn is that one good song.

If It Works I listened to so many times that night I cant even believe it. Since then it's always been my favourite.

None really, Coldplay is my sad group.

For the Girl was my initial favourite cause it's so goddamn catchy, but Country Boys & City Girls has been my recent fav.

Their first single, Steady As She Goes, their best song imo. I was so confused when I heard it on the radio too, "Hey, that sounds like Jack White... wth".
