With my first full calender year under my Last.FM belt I have decided to post my Top 10 Artist and Songs.
Top 10 Artist
10. Rivers Cuomo
112 Plays
Around the end of last year the lead singer of
Weezer Rivers Cuomo released an album of some of his home recordings. It wasn't the greatest album, but it was good background music while I played WoW. And thats why Rivers Cuomo comes in at number 10.
9. Dane Cook
114 Plays
I'm a little ashamed of this one, but I find Dane Cook funny. I think around March of the past year I decided that I was going to listen to all of his albums from start to finish on my computer. As we all know comedy albums have a lot of really short tracks. That is the reason why Dane Cook comes in at number 9.
8. Faces
115 Plays
One of my favorite bands of all time. A lot of people give me grief about this because of
Rod Stewart is the lead singer, but this is
blues rock at its purest. Stewart has a the prefect blues voice and
Ron Woods's guitar is gritty. Last Christmas my parents gave me the complete box set and I have listened the hell out of it.
7. Nine Inch Nails
119 Plays
In 2008 one man did more to please his fans than any other artist, and that was
Trent Reznor. First releasing an album of instrumental track with the first 10 tracks available for free, only to follow it up with another free album with more traditional NIN tracks.
6. Scott Johnson
122 Plays
Good old Scott Johnson coming in at number 6. This man is the creator of many of my favorite
podcast. I was unaware that you could turn podcast off from scrobbling, but I didn't discover this until around the end of the year so Scott was able to grabs enough scrobbles to come in at number 6.
5. Chris Cornell
131 Plays
From
Soundgarden to
Audioslave I love Chris Cornell's music. The majority of these scrobbles come from his Unplugged performance in Sweden. Unlike the majority of people I am looking forward to hearing his new album produced by
Timberland coming out in
2009.
4. The White Stripes
137 Plays
Good old
Jack White comes in at Number 4. Although the White Stripes did not release an album this past I did begin to check out a lot of their
b-sides. And did they have a lot of B-Sides.
3. The Beatles
194 Plays
A timeless classic comes in at number 3. Personally I can never get enough of The Beatles, and I highly expect that they will return to my 2009 list.
2. Led Zeppelin
197 Plays
Just like The Beatles at number 3 Led Zeppelin has the exact same place in my heart.
1. Tenacious D
203 Plays
Tenacious D is a surprise to me. I never knew how much I listened to the D. But considering 1/4 of their plays are my number 1 song it isn't that big of a surprise.
Top 10 Tracks
10.
I Got Mine
25 Plays
The first track off
The Black Keys 2008 album, I Got Mine was the perfect start to a great modern blues rock album.
9.
Discipline
27 Plays
The rumors of a new NIN album began to swirl when Reznor released this track. Personally this isn't my favorite track of this album. That honor belongs to
Echoplex, but Discipline is still a great song.
8.
Deliver Us From Evil
28 Plays
Another band releasing an album in 2008,
Bullet For My Valentine's
Scream Aim Fire was overall a disappointment, but it did have some bright spots and one of those was Deliver Us From Evil.
7. I've Got a Feeling
29 Plays
I feel guilty that I didn't know what is now my favorite Beatles track until this year. I discovered I've got a Feeling from
Tesla's covers album
Reel to Reel. But I can honestly say my life is better now for discovering this song.
6. Inside the Fire
30 Plays
Another lead single for an album released in 2008,
Disturbed's Inside the Fire comes in at number 6.
5.
Addicted
31 Plays
In the first half of 2008 this was probably my favorite track of the year, but
Saving Abel's Addicted quickly got old for me. Whenever it comes on the radio I will still listen to it, but it has fallen off my regular listening.
4.
Hell Yeah
33 Plays
Unlike Addicted
Rev Theory's Hell Yeah still remains to be my favorite new track of 2008. The weekend I discovered it a buddy of mine and me listened to it 16 times.
3. The Day That Never Comes
34 Plays
In 2008
Metallica returned to form with
Death Magnetic. When the lead track came out I would listen to it on my walk to and then from class every day for a month. And that is why it comes in at number 3.
2.
It's Not My Time
36 Plays
This past summer I work with two teenagers who really didn't like my type of music, but we did have one common track we liked and it was
3 Doors Down's It's Not My Time.
1.
Tribute
What can I say it's the greatest and best song in the world.
