Cumartesi öğleden sonraYeah, they hate interviews etc, still, a fantastic band deserves attention, and I'm not talking about interviews in mainstream media at all, I understand why they hate things like that, I would too. With attention I mean a big group of people who love them, appreciate and understand their music. I did not say that a band that is obscure has to be by definition bad, or that a band that is popular by definition has to be good, far from it.

Cuma öğleden sonraWhat has being popular or obscure got to do with how good a band is? What are you trying to say? They deserve the attention? I think they positively hate the attention. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIMGPlH4XPo
-
Irryco şunu yazdı:
Cuma öğleden sonraThey have become so popular for one reason, and that reason is that they make fantastic music beyond everything else. It is very well deserved. Sigur Rós is way too good to be obscure and unnoticed.

Cuma sabahGod Damn! It's been a while since I gave Ágætis Byrjun a full listen. Also Sigur Rós will never be enjoyed by a bunch of fucking douche bags, so I am fine with them getting as popular as they want. Hell when I first saw them live you guys complaining about their "mainstreamness" were just getting pubes and while I was with 1000 people having our minds blown :D
-

Cuma sabahI just got recommended these guys, anyone wanna throw me a track? You can have whatever from my library. :)
-
HotRat şunu yazdı:
Cuma sabahYes, they are becoming so mainstrem. I'm delighted to see a band as creative as this becoming so popular. It's brilliant. Anyway, they said the next album is going to be "slower and more ambient" than their last two, which I see as a good thing since ( ) is easily my favorite album of theirs.

Perşembe öğleden sonraI wish Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust wasn't available for free listening on last fm. They are becoming so mainstreem, which is unlike Icelanders to do so. The album is decent, but I'm worried they might change too much.

Çarşamba akşamhave you guys watched their documentary film? they don't sound arrogant there, they look like very simple people. and actually after seeing the movie, you really do feel like they changed music forever :} the live shows outdoors in there are just as sublime as the landscapes around them.
-
Wellingtons şunu yazdı:
Çarşamba akşamDeadbeatMax: You're right - Me calling Iceland / Sigur Ros boring was out of hand, admittedly its probably one of the most beautiful and wonderfully isolated regions in the world, and the band's music is certainly original and so creatively built in its own niche it deserves the critical acclaim it receives. However, their music will *not* change the world and that's been clear since "( )". It may change Iceland, which I'm sure it has considering their incredible popularity over there, but to change the world would require some greater global cultural momentum and a sound more accessible to average listeners - something that could hook in the minds of anyone listening to it on radio or TV. Post-Rock's been around for nearly a decade and while I'm sure its leaving a vast imprint on music today, I would never go far enough to say its changed the world. And I still stand by my dismissal of Iceland being some untapped birthing ground of today's latest and greatest music.

EduAS şunu yazdı:
Çarşamba öğleden sonraThey seem to be (at least this quote of changing music forever gives the idea) of them being as arrogant as many rockstars. Although I disapprove it, I wouldn't say it impresses me. And Icelandic musical scene is amazing indeed.

Çarşamba sabahThey could very well be the world's quintessential snobs, for all I know. But I don't have to hang around with them, I just get to listen to their music, which is always incredibly unique and frequently devastatingly beautiful; a tour some time in the near future would be fantastic.
-
Wellingtons şunu yazdı:
Salı akşamTheir music is well done, but the people behind it are a handful of fucking twats... "We are simply gonna change music forever, and the way people think about music. And don't think we can't do it, we will." So much bullshit you can almost smell it steaming off of Iceland -- these fruits can't even compose themselves well enough for an interview for NPR. They feed off of their explosive fanbase in Iceland and consider their home the epicenter of musical creation when in reality they're as boring as the cold, desolate beaches they grew up surrounded by.
