Blackie Lawless 4 Eylül 1956’da Steven Duren adıyla dünyaya geldi… Staten Island/New York’ta Kiss insanı Ace Frehley ile beraber büyüyen Blackie, 13 yaşında bir kavgada bıçaklandı ve 14 yaşında disiplini öğrenmesi için askeri okula gönderildi. 18 ay sonra bir teğmeni dövüp okuldan atıldı.Eline gitarı ilk aldığında 9 yaşındaydı ve aynı yıl ilk grubu The Underside ile 16 dolar kazandı. 16 yaşına geldiğinde Black Rabbit adlı bir grupla beraber barlarda çalarak yeteneğini geliştirmeye başladı.Daha sonra kısa bir süre Orfax Rainbow adlı bir grupla takılan Blackie, daha 18 yaşındayken efsanevi New York Dolls’ta Johnny Thunders’tan boşalan yere geldi.

Yaklaşık altı ay New York Dolls’ta çaldıktan sonra, Blackie ve gruptan arkadaşı bas gitarist Arthur Kane, Los Angeles’a taşınmaya karar verdiler. Killer Kane grubunu kuran ikili, 33 ½ adlı bir de demo çıkardılar.EP’nin ön yüzünde Mr Cool arka yüzünde ise Longhaired Woman ve Don’t Need You şarkıları bulunuyordu. Daha sonra Killer Kane dağıldı ve Arthur, New York’a geri dönerken Blackie L.A.’de kaldı.1977 senesinde, Blackie ve Randy Piper bir araya gelerek Sister’ı kurdular. Sister, L.A’de mistik öğeler ve makyajı kullanan ilk grup oldu. Motley Crue kurulmadan önce, Nikki Sixx, Sister ve London gruplarında Blackie ile beraber çalışmıştır. London grubunda daha sonra Guns and Roses grubuna geçen Slash’da gitarist kadrosunda bulunmuştur.

there are two reasons IMO cos of which Crimson Idol is not really that big a name(despite it being a conceptual behemoth in the collection of all those who have heard it) : 1: It Came out in the grunge era 2: It came from a band,more specifically a lyricist who had penned songs such as Animal(Fuck Like a Beast),L.O.V.E. Machine,9.5 NASTY etc; so people didn't actually expect a lyrical magnum opus and never even tried it out. Those who did,well..they clearly love it more than any other popular concept album INCLUDING the Wall.

The two solos on The Idol for me are much better than the two on Comfortably Numb. As per the anthems of the two albums viz. Another Brick In the Wall and Chainsaw Charlie..well one's a pop song and one's a face melting metal number,not that hard a choice..is it?

@SethicaTB The W.A.S.P. show was sooo bad. Even if you are a die hard fan you can't tell me that this was a good show. I 've seen them often enough to say that this was a shitty performance and only half of their Set (they could have started fuckin' 35 minutes earlier)
