Hmm, cool, sure they're not bootlegged versions? Seems strange that there would be copies available and sold so cheaply, unless of course the people selling them are genuinely not aware of how much they profit from their copies, oh well. To be honest I'm not that bothered about owning a physical copy of The Last Live on CD, I have On the Verge of Destruction and both the Live, Live, Live CDs which I think are better albums overall. What I do want to track down on CD is a copy of the single release of The Last Song, not finding any copies on eBay at the moment =(

@ZimZum86 what you said 'bout the last live is true. but you can find it in alternative ways. at least here in Brazil, i find it at amounts in anime events. and its like US$3.

@essellAY That's true but those bands are seen as being quite left field and certain audiences will gravitate toward those bands. Take Polysics for example, they've had exposure in music press and TV in the UK, I've seen that band on MTV2 and read about them in press like Kerrang/NME, in fact I'm 99.9% sure that is how I heard of them. Mad Capsule Markets were similarly brought to a larger Western audience as well in the early noughties. I think X JAPAN could have rode in on that wave but their timing was just wrong. I guess the point is that lots of new J-ROCK (eugh hate that term) bands are getting exposure in the US & Europe by tapping in to anime audiences, they play the big Stateside cons and expos, usually in fact being a bigger draw than the anime!! Obviously not all Japanese music is helped by anime, not all music fans enjoy anime as you rightly say, but rock music definitely makes the most of the partnership =) Just don't mention the series that used Rocket Dive as its theme!

Well, I honestly can't stand anime but I really love what I've heard of X Japan. There's pretty much 2 groups of people in the west that listen to Japanese music though - there's the anime fans that throw themselves into the whole Japanese culture like you said, but there's a lot of alternative music fans that love bands like BORIS and all that.

@PiNK_LEMONeD I agree I also agree with ElTigreNegro I don't know any fan of japanese music who doesn't watch anime, and that is any kind of Japanese music, and they aren't always big anime fans, but I definitely think that one informs the other. Like I said earlier, if you think of the number of Japanese bands which are popular with western audiences then they've all pretty much had an anime tie-in somewhere, I suppose it is just the natural thing for those bands to do, anyway this is way off topic now, lol! Although X JAPAN had an anime tie in with the X: The Movie, wasn't a particularly good film though, I think Forever Love playing over the credits was the best moment of the movie for me, lol =/

Most people who listen japanese music in the west are anime fans, and fangirls that listen visual kei bands because they love their "bishies". They're hardly a good reference to know what good music is being produced in Japan.

pinklemoned> japanese music means japanese pop? or what? :) japanese pop listener usually do not listen to the rock-ier side of japanese music.

@ZimZum86: What you said is so true... Stupid example, but I like the band "Versailles", they passed major, and for their first single... 3 different versions... So stupid! About the press release, I don't know, a lot of people download on P2P so... out of print or not, it is not a problem. But sure, they promoted the CD in store instead of the "out of print" lol. Just, sometimes, people forgot to see on their back, and could miss a lot of good band/music! That is why, I said a lot of French people who listen to the Japanese music don't know X or LUNA SEA, or... etc, etc! =/

@tickingtock: I never say it is bad for the new generation to listenning to J-Music!! Of course, it is a good think, it opens to new culture. But I will talk only about France, and French people: my point is, a lot of them are more interesting to "Visual" side instead of the music, that's why, sometimes, I don't really feel confortable =/ It is like they forgoten the most important! @xansavior: Yes, he wanted. But the show was postponed 2 times... So, yes, we hope for the 09/10/10. Yoshiki said that dates, he was kidding, just it is hard to organize the show in France... I don't really understand why, but it is what it is!

Isn't The Last Live also not longer available, you can find it on sites like eBay but only for extortionate amounts.

zimzum> on the contrary of what you have said, VANISHING VISION, BLUE BLOOD and Jealousy are all in press. the "newest" album, DAHLIA is the only album OOS. and it does seem that YOSHIKI gives more attention to BLUE BLOOD and Jealousy compared to the rest of the albums. L'Arc had ark and dune repressed. two albums only XD.

Yeah the volume mixing is a little off I'd say. The piano intro comes in quite loud and you'd expect that the band would come in at the same volume but they don't, they're quieter =/

@PiNK_LEMONeD I think also reasons why this "second generation" are more into recent bands might also be affected by how in Japan itself newer music is seen as being of a higher priority than older music, record companies are egaer to push new releases, especially when it comes to attracting an overseas audience. For example a band like L'arc en ciel get their new releases put out in the US or wherever but the label won't print older album, this isn't seen as profitable enough, and in the case of X JAPAN consider how some of their albums are now out of print, yet they are such a phenomenally popular band. I'm not sure why this is the case in Japan, but it seems that newer music is treated as more important by promoters, also new music often gets tied in to new anime and that helps to boost popularity too. As for the band evolving, yes it is true bands shouldn't stay in one creative space, experimenting is good, but it isn't always succesful =) Thanks
