Dredg, doksanlı yılların sonunda piyasaya çıkmış ve tarz bakımından farklı yerlerde olan gruplara prodüktörlük yapmış elemanlardan oluşuyor. Bir süre bu şekilde müzikle ilgilenmeye devam eden Dredg, en sonunda kendi albümünü çıkarmak için zorlu bir yola koyulmuştur.
Los Gatos, California çıkışlı alternatif-art rock ağırlıklı bir tarza sahip olan grubun İlk albümü «Leitmotif» Universal music etiketiyle 11 Eylül 2001 tarihinde piyasaya sürülmüştür. bu albüm ilk başta farklı bir isimle ve farklı bir konseptte demo olarak yayınlanmıştı, bununla beraber albümün prodüksiyonunda grup üyerleri haricinde biri yer almamaktadır.

bu albümün ardından 8 ekim 2002’de raflardaki yerini alan el cielo, gerçekten de mükemmel bir albümdür. Her detayı mükemmel donatılmış albümde konuk sanatçı olarak Azam Ali’nin de ismini görmek mümkündür.
21 Haziran 2005 tarihinde Dredg’in üçüncü albümü «Catch Without Arms» raflarda yerini aldı. önceki iki albüme göre daha anlaşılır ve elektronik donatılarla piyasaya çıkan bu albümle dredg’in ismi geniş kitlelere ulaşmış oldu.

Bu albümler dışında waterborne isimli film için kaydettikleri bir soundtrack albüm ve bir çok demo-ep bulunmaktadır.
Albüm kapaklarında ve web sitelerinde de sanatsal açıdan bir yoğunluk göze çarpmaktadır. Özellikle «ruhaltı» çizimler grubun görsel tasvir gücünü ortaya koymaktadır.

    Chuckles was so mediocre. I'm sure they could have made a record like Chuckles if they knew how to do it. It wasn't what they went for, but rather it was their execution that fell flat. It sounded like a band that didn't know what the fuck it was doing in that genre, it was so rushed. Guess there was good reason prior albums took 4-5 years to release. As much as I always wanted to like Mr. Squeezy, or Chuckles, it's not gonna happen.

    Completely agree with StartRevolution. If I listen to Dredg shuffled, I somehow end up skipping Chuckles songs. Leitmotif will ever remain my favourite.

    I agree you can get whatever direction you wish to get.. that being said chuckles is a musical abortion, a pathetic attempt to do what? Getting out of the "label" fans and media put on you? I like to think that but I fear they really wanted to make a record like this.. they thought they were able to push their music over what they did in the last years but miserably failed. You can find a bad rating from either a metal magazine or an electronic website. It's just bad. Nobody really needs to fear anything by saying that it's garbage. We faced it and painfully accepted it. I expect more.. and not an el cielo part2.. as i said you can play whatever genre you want and still make a good work.

    I honestly don't care what direction dredg go, as long as what they do ends up good. The reason i didn't enjoy Chuckles as much wasn't that "OMG dredg went Pop! Fuggin Zellouts!!!", it's just that it simply wasn't a Great album by itself. It wasn't terrible as some overreacting fans said it was, but it certainly wasn't incredible either. It had plenty of great tracks, but as an album, it lost some steam. I tend to just base the greatness of an album by how it hold IT'S OWN WEIGHT, instead of basing the criteria on the artist/s themselves, as any kind of hype/bias, whether good or bad, is detrimental to the rating of the album. dredg have been a consistently Incredible band, so i guess people now have an overwhelmingly positive bias towards their output, therefore multiplying tiny mistakes tenfold. Although i guess that is just a testament to the high marks set by records like Leitmotif, El Cielo, CWA and TP,TP,TD.
