i somewhat like john cage's definition : "an experimental action is one the outcome of which is not foreseen". in this sense, most 'experimental' tagged music is not experimental. maybe it might better be tagged 'avant-garde'. and i guess, "experimental" is all music, people aren't so much accustomed to, less mainstream.
