I'm just finding it hard to believe, because the demo version and the version we got are actually largely the same game, with the dynamic lighting completely removed from the game we got, leaving a gray mess. I can't think of another instance where people were shown actual gameplay with good visuals and then selling the product completely stripped down. I guess it's common outside of video games but this is a first for me.

So DS2 is out and I can safely say I won't be getting it until it's at a bargain bin sale. I'm no graphics whore usually but lying to my face is something I don't take kindly.

this sealed the deal for me on not getting the ps3 version. The popular theory is that PC will get the improved graphics. It would make sense considering just how old the PS3 is, it would never be capable of running anything @ the graphic settings in that video. If we get those ancient history PS3 graphics I'll be majorly pissed off. That shit is unexcusable in a professional PC game in 2014. Looks worse than Demon's Souls.

I'm waiting on PC, mainly because I want to support games like it on PC. It's kind of an asshole move to make the "lead" platform wait almost 1.5 (ONE AND A HALF) months (MONTHS) longer than the "secondary" platforms.

Oh skyrim modding has advanced a lot all right, there's awesome stuff like one that adds water drips and footprints, blurs your vision when looking up while it rains as well as makes NPCs equip some actually warm clothing in a snowstorm. Another one adds patrols of various factions to the game which makes the world less boring overall. There are more combat mods than you can count on one hand. But you know, regardless of how many things you tack on it, at it's core it's sadly still Skyrim.

I've pirated all the DLCs since I don't feel any obligation to give beth any more money. Haven't played any of them though. Or even completed the main quest for that matter. At one point I really wanted to get into the whole modding thing so I downloaded hundreds of mods at once. Turns out, either that was a bit too much for the Creation engine to handle or a bunch of them conflict with each other. Either way, I can only play for half a minute before the game crashes for some reason. Really don't feel like putting in the effort to find out which. The most fun part about skyrim is the act of adding the mods anyway, rathering than playing with them on.

I really don't get the point of NG+. Isn't it the exact same game but enemies have tweaked stats? Really don't see the point of that, or it adding any significant difficulty. I'd much rather play through the game with a different build like faith or something.

Gwyn is considered O&S level hard if you never parry. If you parry, he's the easiest boss in the game. Simple as that. But as someone who beat Gwyn and False king near back to back, parryless Gwyn is above him, mainly because Allant allows you to heal to max health regularly with your endless amounts of weed while doing the same with Gwyn is at least risky. Also I'm convinced dex builds are objectively better than str ones vs environment.

Neato looks so cool. I wish they gave him a better fight. They should've made all of his attacks instantly kill if they wanted to make that fight challenging. Would've made sense too.

You need to be a few steps behind him, you get hit if you're right next to him. People cry over Bed of Chaos way too much. They should be crying about the previous stage and its ludicrously stupid enemy placement instead. They're all copy pasted everywhere without any thought put into it. BoC is perfectly capable of being done on the first try if you use the leap/jump correctly. Not that I did. Still a stupid rushed boss, though.

There's still Gwyn to look forward to, don't lose hope. He is a beast if you don't use the lame ass trick on him. It completely trivializes him, but the "trick" is a completely legit gameplay tactic so that's why people call him easy. Without the trick he is harder than False King imo. You won't be able to safely heal. Ever. He goes hard on your ass.

I've never fought super ornstein but I have a hard time believing he has a buttslam move. And sad to say but it's all downhill from there. When you get to Lost Izalith you've pretty much reached the lowest point the game can go. The same weird enemy that dies in 1 hit plastered everywhere. Gigantic... things... standing in neon lava. Still not sure what they were supposed to represent and if they were enemies or not. Good thing the DLC bosses apart from that abyss monster redeem everything. Oh yeah the crystal halberd is held by one of the mimics behind the sentinels near the first AL bonfire, my bad. Two handed it's really good against O&S, too bad that's it's only use. You know, you'd barely ever even have to backtrack if you play in a way that is sensible ie not going to Catacombs before AL. There are homeward bones and convenient elevators everywhere.

You got that right. Biggie is actually super fast for his size and you can't take your eye off Smalls for a second. I found the crystal halberd you find near solaire's bonfire to help a lot. Look out for that electrically charged buttslam if you're going the fatty route, btw. Also I got to the capra demon again on my new character and I swear to god that fight has exactly two outcomes, either you run past everything and kill the dogs on top of the stairs or somehow get cornered by all three and get gangraped without being able to move. I died twice like this and had to reassess my opinion on that boss. It's funny because you fight capras later on in the game and it makes you realize how pathetic that enemy really is.

Sure but I could 3 hit them so there was no skill involved. I still don't feel I'm all that great at these games. I died to the balder knights earlier while farming for their sword. And O&S is still the hardest boss in both games, rivaled maybe by Kalameet.

DEATHINFIREX
oh man this is too funny. I started a new playthrough of DaS with a dex build. Using the Balder Side Sword at +4 and gold pine resin, you do about 300 damage per hit to the gargoyles. That fight took literally 5 seconds. I'm convinced my trouble against them earlier was due to fatrolling, bad weapon choice and just plain bad playing in general.

Dark only has a fraction of the possible messages you can leave in demons. One message that sticked into my mind from demons was something along the lines of "don't bother with stealthy footsteps" after you shut down the giant machine that shoots arrows in 3-1 and climb up towards that guy who resurrects the boss. How would you say that in dark? try stealth? need footstep? doesn't convey the same meaning at all. And then you're left with stupid shit like "need head" and "amazing chest ahead" because there's not enough freedom.

Maybe Dex is just better against them. Just a sharp Uchigatana +3 with sticky white stuff absolutely devastated one of them before the other guy could even make it's entrance. Which reminds me that they should bring back SWS in DS2. And better messages. Aside from fatty and beanpole the messages in DaS are utter crap.

The gargoyles had a worse area, there is no bonfire in the middle to save you and its pretty much just as narrow, due to them being twice as big. And you fight them in the very beginning. The Maneaters fly to god knows where constantly letting you do whatever you want to the one that happens to stay on the ground. You can even cut their tails to disable their magic attacks. The only threat to the fight comes from them constantly deciding to charge at you, stunlocking you and thus knocking you off the ledge. Just one maneater is capable of doing that. I wish I had more souls games to play.

Well, I just beat this game too. Ending is 2deep. And all of the NPCs must be hidden pretty well because I only found Patches, Ostrava, Freke and Urbain. Maneaters were an absolute joke. Died to False king 2 times. When you have 60 full moon grass from the previous level and he gives you that many opportunities to heal, it really isn't that hard. Regenerator ring + Adjudicator was pretty useful too since blocking is worthless even with a dark silver shield.

I knew you said the 2-3 boss was going to be around the bend but I had no idea it would be that close. Nor the 4-3 one, or the 5-3 one. tbh they were all kinda gimmicky, like a lot of bosses seem to be. Give Garl his own medicine (parrying), Storm King is Storm King and Dragon God does nothing after you shoot him once with the convenient ballista thing. So all I have to do now is kill the maneaters, then 3-3, which is probably just a boss again, and the rest of 1 and I'm done? This game sure isn't very long huh.

The real question is how in the shit did you find your way back to get that doll from the undead asylum? I'm assuming you looked that up? Because I have a hard time believing anyone would think of parkouring through all of firelink shrine just to curl up as a ball in some crow's nest for a minute or two just for the hell of it. I did Painted World after I beat most of the game so I was obviously overleveled for it. Have fun with more wheeletons. To tell you the truth, I'm finding DeS frustrating. There's so much bullshit going on its incredible. Narrow ledges blocked by respawning shadows that 2shot you. I've fallen to my death 5x more than died legitimately. Manta Rays. Swamp you can't roll in. Black Phantom in swamp you can't roll in that can't be blocked or parried. And I'm being cautious as fuck too. It's actually a relief to get to the bosses because at least they usually aren't full of shit. Talking of Old Hero and Dirty Colossus. I'll leave that Maneater for some other time.

Sif is easy as long as you have a 100% phys block shield like silver knight and enough stamina to just block all of his attacks, indeed. I beat him by just walking towards him with my shield up. Could even block that double 360 swing at full stamina. I tried shooting the bugs with longbow, which is my secondary weapon. Not sure how you had the patience to kill those things with 15 dmg per arrow. But then, I haven't upgraded anything since bladestone seems rarer than anything in DaS. Oh great maybe I should go to 2-3 next indeed, those manta rays and poison swamps don't really excite me too much

So what do you think of 2-2? Made blighttown look like child's play imo. On one hand you've got the long way with the nigh unkillable even with a magic weapon bugs and the flying bugs that you absolutely have to take lava damage to get to, and on the other that platforming level that isn't hard once you do it a few times, but can still get you killed. At least I finally met old patches in this game as well. Flamelurker wasn't nearly as hard as advertised, as expected. I died 3 or 4 times. The hardest part were those annoying fires he leaves on the ground when he jumps around and the fact that you can't roll through his legs when there's clearly enough space to do so. When you roll the character seems to home in on him instead of past him every time. All in all that flame res ring did a lot of work for me, but it did get kinda scary once he powered up. Oh and not relying on stupid shit like locking on helped too. Monster hunter taught me well.

I'm not sure if he was harder in the earlier versions of the game but Ceaseless Discharge is so goddamn easy I don't even understand. All he does is smash that arm thingy on you. At least that's all he did to me. I even heard that he dies if you just run away too. The next boss there is even more stupid. A third recolor of the tutorial boss. Not to mention the enemies in that place. Really, that place is just the worst. At least Izalith has cute plop-plop-plop thingys. Is it just me or are dex weapons overpowered as fuck? All you need is stamina and you can eternally stunlock anyone with a kilij. Also do you have any idea how to save Rydell in the tower of Latria? I saved Freke like last time but I can never find a key for Rydell.

Just so you know, you didn't actually need that crest for anything. It's just a shortcut to the boss. You could've gone all the way to the basin of darkroot and killed the hydra there after which you can climb to the place with the mushrooms walking around. You're gonna have to kill that hydra anyway if you want the DLC content (which is hidden pretty well, I recommend looking up a guide). Don't you have the crimson set? The waistcloth has like twice the armor of elite knight leggings. It's kinda weird. Well, I officially just beat the whole game, including the DLC content. O&S is still the hardest boss. Looks like you're going there much later than I was. I went to AR straight after Sen's.

Pinwheel is easy for when you encounter him, but I think the developers intended for you to go down into the catacombs earlier than you usually do. I can see Pinwheel being hard at lower soul levels when you can't 2shot him. Did you have a divine weapon? I wouldn't willingly go to the catacombs without one. And definitely not the Tomb of Giants. Although easy by himself, the ToG boss is probably utterly annoying without a divine weapon. Iron Golem is the same as Tower Knight in strategy. Just imagine a children's story and how a giant would go down in such a tale. I've seen all of the bosses in the game but 2, and I'm convinced O&S is the hardest boss in the game. Do not go to New Londo yet, that's all I'll say. As for me, I decided to go full girly mode in DeS and went for a Dex build instead. That winged spear is just too good. And Kilij (Uchi seems to break way too easily). Absolutely destroyed Adjudicator again. Not sure how it's possible to get hit in that fight.

That's just basic souls for you. Even the black knights in the very last area still do that. But man that Artorias fight in the DLC was pretty intense. Still don't get why people keep crying about difficulty though. Must be NG+ or something. come on dude this is not some kind of a weeaboo game where all the females are perfect and superior to male counterparts in every area. I am not convinced any females within a 100km radius of myself would even be capable of lifting one of those greatswords, let alone swing it. though I guess playing a pure mage or something wouldn't be too implausible. I'm guessing you met the blowdart people? Or maybe the flies? The maggots? Maggots still destroyed me when I came back at SL 7X. The most annoying things in there are those fire breathing dogs, though. They might not seem much, but once they corner you, you're done.

you look pretty edgy there with that bloody sword, spikes everywhere and pale skin. just my opinion. also I did pick a female in Dark Souls, but to be perfectly honest, it just doesn't feel very believable, having a woman do all of this crap. That's why I keep her covered up at all times. not being sexist or anything, but I'm gonna pick male in every souls game from now on. I started with the temple knight again since he gets the awesome heal, good armor and halberd (which is actually good in DeS) right from the get go. I'm just gonna put enough points in faith and a few in int so I can use some miracles and the rest I'm gonna put into manly stats as always. Took off all armor except chest and I'm rolling like a motherfucker. So much faster than DaS. Rolled right past both phalanx and tower knight already np. Gonna roll through spider and a few more and I'll be where I left off already. and is it just me or is the maiden just adorable

Ok, so get this. I was just going to check my characters stats on DeS, but when I got to the screen where you load save I pressed square, then dpad left, then X. Yeah, I just did that. Completely impulsively too, it's like my fingers were moving on their own. I'm not even all that mad though, just amused. I was probably going to start a new character anyway. You have any recommendations for a build I should go for? If not I'm just gonna make a str character again with some faith on the side.

Armor actually seems to matter a bit more in this game than demon's souls. I beat one of the later bosses in the game solely with the strategy of donning my heaviest armor (Havel's) and tanking all of their hits while dual wielding my heaviest hitting weapon. Kind of lame, but then, that boss is lame. Black Iron is the best looking set in the game, what the hell is wrong with you. And if you can at least midroll in it, all the better. BKGA is the greataxe with the fastest R1. I'm buff as shit so none of those pussy katanas for me ty

Although to be serious I am in a need of a new phone since this one has been buggy ever since I got it. Also I don't have a portable music player. Anyway, either I'm overleveled (tbh I AM like 72 or something, but I have never ever grinded souls so that would be weird) or this game starts getting easier and easier as you progress past Anor Londo. The last 5 or 6 major bosses have been absolutely nothing. I heard some of the areas got rushed because they wanted to compete with skyrim or something. It shows because the neon lava and weird scratchy walls in Demon Ruins look absolutely horrifying. Hope they learned from their mistakes come DaS2.

People cry over the Capra fight like you wouldn't believe. It's incredible. I remember going into that fight and being scared as shit because it was Capra Demon, but then I rolled through his leap, 1 hit both dogs with my halberd R2 and spent the rest of the fight fall-critting him from that platform. I just don't understand what the problem is. There's a pretty cool feature in the Depths. Have you met those curse frogs yet? The statues around them, those are other real players who died there. I found it pretty neat. It's really easy to get lost there, yeah. Too bad about the area boss. You'll know what I mean. The next area is where people say it gets hard, but it's more annoying than hard in my opinion. Has a certain resemblance to a Demon's Souls area, so you'll be right at home for better or for worse.
