West Coast hip hop court jesters Digital Underground were originally conceived as a racially-conscious homage to Black Panther politics. However, bandleader Greg "Shock G" Jacobs took the group in a more whimsical direction after Public Enemy rose to prominence with an overtly-Afrocentric style. It's no stretch to say that only the happenstance success of Chuck D's bombastic breakthrough is the only thing that kept The Humpty Dance from being a modern-day civil rights anthem. With that in mind, I suggest that, as a matter of social solidarity, because I am a freak, and I like the girls with the boom, we at once get busy in a Burger King bathroom.
