Ya, I was there, was in Hamburg for two days, didn't remember you lived there until just before I left unfortunately and didn't check Last.fm until now.... so fuck. I went by myself so wouldn't have minded some company. But you went too I see now? I was standing right at the front to the right. Thought it was a great show, loved the new song with the violin at the end especially. Was also my first time in Hamburg (and Germany), I liked it, the St Pauli district and stuff, didn't know about that before.

Machst du irgendwas an Silvester? Ich schaue mit Lukas The Wire...

---You were a little rough on me- but I guess I deserved it. Yeah- I remember when I was rude to you a couple of years ago. It was very inconsiderate of me. Karma is heck sometimes, and paybacks are hell. I'm sorry man- I bet you enjoyed that immensely..... heehee

Good answer! It's just something that I've been thinking about a bit lately, that certain professions/subjects are seen as having this idealistic aura, while others don't (and the ones that do are the ones with more or less obvious, immediate effects on people/society). But I'm beginning to think that a layer of idealism could be applied to most professions and that that would be a good way to get people (students) interested - which they usually say is needed, at least in Sweden, for the natural sciences in particular these days. But what's needed when attracting people to those subjects is perhaps to speak more of the future and have a longer time frame since the effects aren't as direct and apparent as in certain other professions. More idealism, in short. :P But yeah, just my thoughts... Working in Germany? What's that like? I'm kind of interested in working (or studying) in some other country, but it seems like it could be tough, especially without speaking the language. (1000!!!)

Then all is well! I think it's just one of those covers that - at least for me - is more recognizable/iconic than the actual music (not saying the covers are necessarily _better_ than the music). Like Aeroplane Over the Sea, Court of the Crimson King or that Velvet Underground album. I think I knew all of those covers before even knowing who the artist was. Aaanyway, how's life and stuff? Also: aren't you studying physics or something? Because if so, then my simple question is: why? Not in a condescending way, but pure curiosity since I don't find it interesting at all (except for like astrophysics, since space is cool). Basically what I'm wondering is if people who study that kind of stuff do it because they want to make the world a better place or if they just like numbers. Basically, are they as idealistic as people who study say, politics or medicine.

eh what how? i didnt even know she toured the UK recently :( I only really like pa engliska or w/e its called cos its basically a HS album in disguise. hmmm I've been good. I've missed loads of small gigs recently due to general laziness and unwillingness to brave the cold and public transport. Plus I have no one to go with most of the time, though I manned up and have entered the brave new world of going on my own and playing as much angry birds as i can during the interludes. How's things with you?

Hey!! It has been ages. Things keep reminding me of you lately - discussing swedish pop music with colleagues in a scandinavian cafe, hearing Stornoway, and listening to Math and Physics Club. Still really glad you introduced me to that music! :D How are you? I actually haven't listened to enough music lately besides videogame stuff and The Shins. Your plays look rather low too, or just no lastfm where you live now? :)

As it happens, I just bought a ticket to Popaganda after all. :) We'll see what I think of it. Maybe we'll bump into each other, although I have no idea what you look like and you probably won't recognize me either. But if you see a brown and golden Cult of Luna shirt then that's probably me...

Paris?! Haha indeed, that's just crazy. But yeah, the festival is not very metal, but that's partly why I'm interested in going, need some variety you know. ;) Well, that, and the fact that I actually do listen to quite a bit of (Swedish) pop, and considering the line up, price and location, this seemed like it could be a pretty good festival. The problem is that I'll be back in school by then, and since I'm studying in another city, well... we'll see. And yeah, saw you had been to Boris/Russian Circles too (kinda surprised ME ;)). I thought both were pretty good, maybe Boris were the better/more interesting/exotic of the two, but I don't really "get" their music... but they had something. Russian Circles did their thing, although I usually want a bit more contrast and dynamics in my post rock (I think. Or maybe I'm just a bit tired of them for the moment). Saade were pretty good, but especially interesting that it was just a duo with that kind of music. Your opinion?

Oh yeah, born and raised. ;) It's always difficult to answer this question though, maybe because I've never seen the city from an outsider's point of view... aanyway, depending on the weather the archipelago can be a nice place to visit to just hang out and enjoy the nature, if you're that kind of person. If you just want to walk around the city then Gamla stan ("The old town") is the classic tourist-y part, could be worth seeing. Djurgården is tourist friendly too, has some museums and stuff if you want that, and pretty surroundings. Uhh I wish I could recommend something besides these tourist clichés, but I don't know really... Hornstull strand is probably my favourite venue in terms of interesting live music, but I suppose you might not want more of that if you're attending Popaganda (which I'm actually thinking of attending too, but probably won't). Uh yeah, will tell you if I come up with anything else, feel free to ask questions. :) Going with friends?
