If no one's answered it yet, they Arctopus song you're looking for is Sensory Amusia off of Nano-Nucleonic Cyborg Summoning (pardon the spelling, though it's not that bad from memory)

Hey there, just dropping by to see if you know that Tony MacAlpine, Billy Sheehan and Virgil Donati have an album coming out recorded as Devil's Slingshot. If you didn't know, you do now. I got a copy at one of their gigs on Saturday, and it's a great album that I'm guessing you'd really enjoy, so I thought I'd let you know (or, if you already know, ask whether you've heard it).

Don't I feel like a tit? I missed Seventh Wonder. I spoke to Johnny afterwards and apologised for missing the SW set for which I feel incredibly gutted :( Got there in time for Sun Caged though who were incredible. Awake were pretty good, but I simply cannot fault the Sun Caged guys. A beasting performance indeed.

I only got round to buying V - The New Mythology Suite recently. That was on my to buy list for ages. Not got the new one yet, I'll probably wait until I've actually gotten the hang of the crazy concept in V a bit more. I'll be interested to know what you think about the new one though.

Hey, how you doing? I'm sure you must have Systematic Chaos by now, I'm just wondering if you were as disappointed as I was? Interesting that you've developed an interest in ska. I really like Reel Big Fish, but I've never bought any CDs by other ska-bands, even though I know that I would like Less Than Jake, Suburban Legends or Catch 22 if I had the cds.

If you feel like listening again, the solos come in pairs, with the second one being a keyboard solo and the fouth and sixth being Marty's. Marty plays melodies from the end of the sixth solo through to the end too. Even if you don't think the song is the best ever, it's cool just to compare their styles...which is another reason why I like Viper, you can really tell which parts are Vai.

As far as I'm aware, Marty only does guest guitar on that one track but the sole Firewind guitarist Gus G is pretty amazing anyway. I have two of their albums so far, but I've just sent off for another one. I'd definitely recommend them. I think I even play Forged By Fire more often than Loudspeaker and the new Rush album Snakes & Arrows at the moment, which is really saying something.

You know, I think I just might :P Also, do you know the Firewind track Feast of the Savages it's a nice instrumental I'm listening to fairly regularly at the moment featuring two guest solos and some harmonies by Marty Friedman (who I've noticed you're a fan of). Speaking of M.F. I'm still, as always, loving his last two albums, though Viper is probably my current favourite.

Good to see :P I notice you've got Evergrey in your charts as well, did you know Mattias did a few guest appearances on their first album? I don't have it personally, so if you do I'd be interested to know if you think it's worth getting. I've listened to some of their stuff and I think they're quite good, but just havent bought anything yet.

Well there are experimental elements in there, triplets, sextuples, time signature changes and very strange guitar tunings. It's not exactly power metal or anything but the riffs are quite heavy so I've always thought of it as metal. I think they're described as prog-metal quite often though I can't think of any long songs off the top of my head. Try Taste My Fist if you get a chance.

Well he only has two solo albums, of which I only have the second one. :P It's very good though, it has a nice cover of smoke on the water, which is probably the main reason for choosing that one (Freak Guitar: The Road Less Traveled) over the first one (Freak Guitar). Personally I listen to a lot of his stuff with his band Freak Kitchen, but I'd warn it's a bit of an acquired taste.

Try to download their musics using some softwares that I guess it's simpler.. Both LTE and Freakeys are awesome on my point of view.. they r instrumental metal/rock.. u should try them ^_^ I hope I could've helped u.. cya

Have to say I'm not overty familiar with Devin's solo albums. I'm trying to shepard them for completeness, but being impended my stingey HMV pricing. I do have Terria, although only recently it has fallen into my possesion and I can't pass verdict. My circle of Devy, however, cites Ocean Machine as his finest solo album. I'd start there.

Hmm, I would recommend the album Tyranny to start you off, that's what got me hooked. After that Room V because it's the continuation of the story of Tyranny. Both of these albums revolve around V for Vendetta. I would also recommend Legacy, just because it has a 34 minute epic. :-P Enjoy, kind sir. :)
