Another year has passed, so, for the second time ever, I decided to put everything together.
This year my taste of music represents a bit of hip-hop, acoustic, rock, indie, soul, alternative, singer-songwriter, jazz, funk, electronic, chill, surf, blues, neo-soul, folk, underground hip-hop, indie rock, instrumental hip-hop, chillout, instrumental, trip-hop, alternative rock, pop, reggae, beats, swing, indie pop and jazz hop.
From February till July I enjoyed my time living in the beautiful city of Utrecht, The Netherlands, where I was an ERASMUS exchange student at the Utrecht University. Since I lived in a huge flat for five months with 11 awesome people from all over the world, this year my charts doesn't reflect the music I was actually into.
I was listening to lots of classic rock, like Led Zeppelin or The Beatles, together with Martin, Samuli, Dori and others we even did a jam session, and, of course, we were jumping to tracks like Hello and Like A G6 while attending Club Poema or Tivoli. When I was doing my studies, I usually listened to Onra & Quetzal, the French hip-hop duo of two mpc’s and a bunch of vinyls.
I discovered some crazy artists I've never heard before, like DMC DJ World Champions C2C. Their live performance is amazing! In Netherlands I also witnessed the concert of Aloe Blacc and Armin Van Buuren live at Queen's Day.
Back in Latvia I attended Positivus Festival. Couple of nice bands like Hurts and Röyksopp were there, but, to be honest, I was a bit disappointed. For example, Röyksopp totally are not made for live gigs, that's for sure. On the other hand, the performance of latvian artist Gustavo was great! I really enjoyed his appearance.
In last couple of months I've been a big fan of electronic music artist Pretty Lights, Michael Bublé's Christmas album, soul singer Curtis Mayfield, I Love You So, a very addictive song by Cassius, and its heavily sampled version Why I Love You from Jay-Z & Kanye West.
To end with all those flashbacks, I will put my top 40 artists, tracks and albums I've scrobbled on Last.fm.
