I personally think the classic series was a mixed bag. Yes... there were whiny characters like for instance Tegan would complain over every little thing or Peri would whine about most things... then there were Dodo, Susan and Vicki who were quite helpless too. But there were also companions like Turlough, Romana, who could fly the TARDIS themselves or Leela who could stand her feet in fights. Then there were characters who grew like Jo... she would whine about a lot of things, but later on she could resist the Master's tricks quite a few times (like in "Frontier In Space", scene still cracks me up when the Master fails to hypnotize her).... you are right though that Moffat does seem to use a lot of timey-whimey tricks and mystery characters... as of now I don't mind it yet because the ongoing Smith era is my favorite part of the new series. I never could take to a too human approach of The Doctor in the Russell T. Davies years.

I do get your point... all female characters seem to have a lot of traits in common with eachother in the new series. I don't really expect something different or more close to how the companions acted in the classic series, maybe that's why I didn't dislike Clara. I guess you could say I concentrated on the details I did like such as the link that was made between Oswin and Clara.

I take it your expectations were met :-)... I thought it was a great story and left quite some mystery about Clara / Oswin for the viewer. Although we now know that the characters are "the same"...

Was too late and the wrong place to catch Savatage in concert, but I've gotten to see TSO a few times. Noticed they're high on your list, also. Saw the recent Loreena McKennitt - interesting contrast, but a beautiful, clear voice.

Hey Arch! Sorry been beatin' a deadline and haven't had time to socalize. I wonder about these British websites though. I don't have one one heavy metal album in my repitoire and we're "very high". I enjoy a little metal in my ears now and then, just not enough to part coin to get any. WHOA! I'm having a difficult time typing right now with Mista riding ol' Tin Foil below. I've seen quarter horses before. What'zat? an eigth or sxteenth horse? Sigh, never wished I wore a saddle until now... Never seen so much bouncin' and gyration since the Northridge Earthquake back in '93. I wonder if she's wearin' spurs? Ooooohhh! (OK, pick mind up from stable floor...). To quote the Nimoy: Be well and prosper .\\ // dude. Mista: If you read this, I appreciate your literary mind. If you EVER need extra coins to feed ol' Tin Foil, call me. Wouldn't your steed to starve. Oh, and a Nimoy to you too .\\// dudette.

Hey, Archangel. Greetings from the U.K. Thanks for adding me as a friend. Am loving your music library. Looking at it reminds me that there are still hundreds of rock bands that I need to add to my own music library. Please feel free to drop me a shout on my page at any time whenever you are passing, or even better, feel free to recommend any good music that you think i might like. I hope you have a great week ahead of you. Peace.

Hmm...well, I do have a list of my favorite movies that I put together ( http://www.imdb.com/list/J8we6vfd_Cc/ ), so there might be something you like in there. I know it sounds a bit nerdy, but I like having that kind of thing organized...can't explain why really. I don't know if you've seen "Moon," but it's a GREAT film, and it's in the same vein as Sunshine (It's maybe even a better movie).

Glad you liked it, it's pretty good. Actually, it's one of the only movies I've had a chance to see this year...there's so many that I want to get to the theaters for, but I don't have the time or the money, and my friends don't have the same taste in movies as me, which is a problem. But yeah, I'm glad I saw the Adjustment Bureau.

Hah, that's great. I really enjoyed the Adjustment Bureau, but it wasn't all that popular when it came out. Not absolutely out of this world or anything, but it was definitely a good watch, especially since Damon and Blunt had great chemistry. Sunshine though...now that's a masterpiece. Both are pretty underrated.

After the problems with the (new version of the) Last.fm client resulted in hundreds of my iPod scrobbles being lost, I've decided to retire my Last.fm account. I've loved Last.fm these long many years, and have scrobbled my music religiously. But after repeated tries to scrobble from my iPod over a period of weeks all proved fruitless, it was time to move on. I wish I didn't have to, but I can't stop listening to my music until Last.fm gets its technical issues sorted out.

I won't be missed, but I'll miss Last.fm.

My Last.fm account: February 5th 2005 - March 2nd 2013. 177,383 scrobbles. RIP.
