That week (29/2007) in music: My reflection

Again a dead week in albumland. Expecting that, I was holding an album-listening-week for myself, to end the artists weeks. I listened to many albums I had long time but gave them second or more chances. Some new ones I got this week include Belinda's selftitled debut, Jesse McCartney's Beautiful Soul, the BEP's Elephunk and Jeckyll & Hyde's The Album (what a original title by the way!). Of those four I must admit I enjoyed Beautiful Soul the most, but as I could not yet pick my favorites from the album, I picked Elephunk as the album I wanted to make a top 5 of, as the album really did not interest me at all, except for 6 songs. More about this below. This week I discovered music videos for J.Lo's "Me Haces Falta", Dima Bilan's "Number One Fan" and Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music" amongst others. I know Dennis' "Bubblegum" has a video as of Thursday or so, but I can not watch it on TMF nor can't find it on youtube or anything. So its performance this week is just affected by the fact I know it has a video.

10 (07) Kat DeLuna "Whine Up" (ex #1)

  • Reflection: I really must say, I did NOT expect it to be #1 again! I did not play this song on Monday, and that one day without it reboosted my love for the song Tuesday up to now it still does. I'm telling you, "Potential Breakup Song" really might reach the status "Toxic" ever reached in 2004. To at least have a change of cover, I put up the official single cover. The girls are rolling in the chart, being in it with three songs, marking they're the first artist to do this! I neither expected "How I Feel" to rise up to that point of #3, but the song is growing more and more into moi everyday! But for her to pass the Girls, hell no! I really have an on/off relationship with Marion Raven's "End of Me", my love for it boosted again this week resulting it to re-enter the chart for the millionth time (okay, fourth). Bubbling under songs are "Outside of You" of Hilary Duff and "Falling Away" by Marion Raven herself. Maybe if I watch the video, it'll boost my love pour the song.

    09 (–) Jon McLaughlin "People"
10 (07) DJ Coone & Ghost "Pitch Up"

  • Reflection: This week they really did leave. Coone & Ghost are outta my charts! Replacing them coming in high are the Teriyaki Boyz' "Tokyo Drift (Fast & Furious)", which I discovered by doing request. So I am really thankful to the one who requested it, cause due him/her this song entered this high! It has this cool beat with Asian voices (but singing English) and is sooo danceable! It's danceability is what beat "Number One Fan" to the fourth position, else it would have reached a higher peak! The reason why "The Way I Are" entered 'so high' again, is a woman they named Keri Hilson. I love everything she does in the video, and that made me love the song again. I think this time it's not a re-entry for a week, but it actually might stay in longer! It will not re-reach its peak position of #2, that's very unlikely, but you can never know.

09 (–) Shop Boyz "Party Like a Rockstar"

  • Reflection: While it's still rising in the American charts, it reached #1 here with me, slowly but it did! It also became my 15,000th song here! I'm talking about "Paralyzer" by Finger Eleven! My love for "The Family" is rising up again too, passing by "Hot Summer" this week! I'm also starting to re-feel "Wake Up Call", which previously peaked at #2 and then started lowering in chart positions. Also noteworthy is that I have liked "Dance Floor Anthem" for so long, but it never entered my band chart for some reason. Probably because it would have entered it the chart was a top 10 for very long, but it never went to my top 5. Guess it won't repeat "Keep Your Hands Off My Girl"'s success (in my chart then lol). Maybe if I watch the video, it can rise (still haven't seen that one). And I still am not over that rainstorm they recorded, the track rises this week… "Sexy! No, No, No..." debuted at #6 with only two plays in my chart! It'll grown on me in time. The intro is cool though! It's not "Something Kinda Ooooh" though… Awaiting HQ version!

  • Reflection: The new albums made place for the older albums I've loved the past week. I predict a lot of albums to come and go in this chart, as i'm laying down the HOT albums of 2007 to listen to the older ones I used to love too. Like Right Where You Want Me re-entering at #2! I really loved it and now i'm loving it all over again!

    ~[:this week's album:]~*~
    Elephunk (Black Eyed Peas)
    1. "Let's Get Retarded"
    2. "Hey Mama"
    3. "Shut Up"
    4. "Where Is the Love?"
    5. "Anxiety"

  • Reflection: Yeah, they absolutely picked the right singles cause the other songs, except for two, are basically screaming out "hi, i'm a album filla, how are u doing?". I mostly don't judge on first listens, but I already knew some songs aside from the singles like "Sexy" but still they are kinda bad. I really think Monkey Business is better than this album! Maybe the upcoming From Roots to Fruits will be better!
