day 01 - your favorite song
Well, it's a really hard question, because it changes all the time. But if I have to pick up exactly one song, I think, it must be Madonna's Bad Girl. Such great memories from my childhood, when I watched this brilliant video million times a day! :-) I know, this song can be far from being perfect, but I also know that there is no song I love more than Bad Girl.
(PS. Though the first thought was about Zombie, I eventually changed my mind.)
day 02 - your least favorite song
Hm, I used to have a tag "hate this song", but about a week ago I decided to delete it, because.. just don't know :-) And about the question - my all-time most hated song is Umbrella by Rihanna. Really annoying, and the singer's vocals sound like she is sick and going to barf X_X
day 03 - a song that makes you happy
Ohh, there are many songs that make me happy, but the most working one is Lady Gaga's Bad Romance :D
And I think I must mention P!nk's Stupid Girls because of its great video which makes me laugh even after a million times I've watched it.
day 04 - a song that makes you sad
Definitely, You Look So Fine by Garbage. For me it's the saddest song ever written. The ending, "let's pretend happy end" just breaks my heart into many little pieces
day 05 - a song that reminds you of someone
Mmm, Kelly Clarkson's Addicted reminds me of my past "love-to-death-i-will-never-be-happy-i-want-to-kill-myself-im-so-stupid-nobody-loves-me-ill-die-alone-and-blah-blah-blah" depression and the girl who made me feel this way. Even though now I realize how silly it was, I still don't want to listen to this song :D
day 06 - a song that reminds you of somewhere
In Saint-Petersburg there is a hotel named "Emerald", so every time I pass it by, I start singing Emerald Island by Leaves' Eyes. I'm a bad singer, so a person walking with me is immediately filled with desire to kill me :D So, this track reminds me of that place :-)
day 07 - a song that reminds you of a certain event
Within Temptation - What Have You Done reminds me of my trip to Moscow to my friends from Evanescence message board :-) We sang this song for the whole day, it was crazy :D It went on sounding in my head on my way back home, and I don't know how didn't I get sick of it eventually %)
day 08 - a song that you know all the words to
Actually, any Evanescence song :D I started to listen to music with them, so I used to be their biggest fan in the world. I learnt by heart and translated into Russian all their lyrics, and still haven't forgotten the words :-)
day 09 - a song that you can dance to
Depeche Mode - World in my eyes. In my Theatre Studio there are choreographic lessons, and we learned a dance to this song. There is no other song, listening to which I got so many bruises :D
day 10 - a song that makes you fall asleep
Oh, I have just woken up after only 3 hours of sleeping, so any song makes me fall asleep right now :D But if seriously… Dido's Northern Skies is the best lullaby ever! 8 minutes of monotonous, yet so beautiful melody with cloudy arrangements and mellow vocals. One of the best Dido's songs.
day 11 - a song from your favorite band
I generally try to avoid using the expression "favourite band", because my favourite band changes all the time, but in contradistinction to favourite song I can't make once-and-forever choice. Well, if to take the recent time, I re-fell in love with Within Temptation (I overlistened them long ago, but now I feel for them again). To pick a song… I'll take Iron, because this song stopped me from cutting my hair - I'm preparing to headbang on December 12th ;-)
day 12 - a song from a band you hate
Well, I've spent a half of my lifetime hating Linkin Park. And though now I feel ok to them, I think they deserve to be in this journal :-D And the song is… hm… well, let it be In The End, it has amazing intro and, I guest, it's their best song.
day 13 - a song that is a guilty pleasure
I kissed a girl is totally awesome! I don't really like Katy perry (ok, ok, I don't like her at all) because for me it's a commercial pop music at its worst… But this single track is so amazing, I can't help to listen to it :-)
day 14 - a song that no one would expect you to love
I don't know why, but people get really surprized when they hear I'm in love with Aqua, which sang about barbie girl in the 90's :-) Looking forward to their next album (the first one in 11 years!), they're so positive and happy, love them! :-)
day 15 - a song that describes you

day 16 - a song that you used to love but now hate
Hm, kind of a really difficult question… It happens sometimes that I stop loving a song, but total turn from love to hate… I need to think about it :D *10 minutes later* Wow, I managed to find two examples! First. When Tarja's My Winter Storm came out, I was very impressed, especially with Poison. Really, now I can't even listen to this s……. ong from beginning to end. And, of course, can't understand how could I enjoy it. Second. lonely used to be my favourite track from after forever's self-titled album. Until I read the lyrics… nuff said %) :D
day 17 - a song that you hear often on the radio
Haven't listened to the radio for a few years, so can't answer this question :D Back in 2005 I listened to the radio a lot to catch Avril Lavigne's Nobody's Home, and I can't say it was hard - this song was aired pretty often :-) Still can't believe that today I'm gonna hear it live ;-)
day 18 - a song that you wish you heard on the radio
I don't care about radio, so I'll tell about a song I was extremely lucky to hear on the radio :-) Once (not long ago, within 5 months, I think) I was sitting in a cafe with my friends. Radio was on, but I didn't pay it any attention. Until I heard something extremely beautiful. I clearly recognized Madonna, but not the song. That day, when I came home, I made some research and found out that this song M released for the soundtrack to the movie starring her, The Next Best Thing. I didn't even know that such a song existed, and I don't know how could it get to the radio, it wasn't released even as a promo single! Anyway, now it's one of my favourite Madonna's songs, time stood still :-)

My favourite album is still here's to the mourning, my favourite song off it is still lost control :-)

day 20 - a song that you listen to when you’re angry
Definitely, Nightwish's master passion greed. Hmm, the last scrobble was on 19th January… I wasn't angry for a really long time :-)

Hmmm, this question is harder than previous, cause I don't have a certain song for happiness :-) Let it be two dreamers by lunatica, the happiest sympho-metal song ever :-)
day 22 - a song that you listen to when you’re sad
Questions are getting harder :D Well, first of all, sadness is different. Like… Heart is broken = one sadness, nose is broken = another one :-) So, I will listen to different songs as a result of different causes of sadness %) Well, taking the most primitive reason: teenage love problems make me listen (along with You Look So Fine from day 4) to Tristania's equilibrium. Damn, both YLSF and Equilibrium are in my top-5 plays… seems like I've got a kind of a problem :D
day 23 - a song that you want to play at your wedding
Felix Mendelssohn's Wedding March, please :D
day 24 - a song that you want to play at your funeral
Frédéric Chopin's funeral march, please :D Yes, I know that I'm totally not original in those latest two questions, but I'm conservative about such things.
day 25 - a song that makes you laugh
Nightwish's bare grace misery starts with words "Sweet boy, come in". It sounds totally like "slepoy kamin", which in russian means "blind fireplace"… really stupid reason to laugh, but I just can't help :D Also NW's Nymphomaniac Fantasia makes me laugh because of a little perfect fanfiction about this song. It's written in russian, and I'll try to translate it, but not sure that I can.
day 26 - a song that you can play on an instrument
Such songs I tag specially :-) Though I'm still a bad unexperienced guitar player, so most of the songs are played just by strumming chords up and down :D Also when I was a child, my mom taught me to play piano, and when in more conscious life I had a synth (very short time), I learnt play intros of Nightwish's ever dream and while your lips are still red (their best song imo, btw). Those pieces I still can play :-) And there are also my immortal and say my name, which I could play, but now have forgotten..
day 27 - a song that you wish you could play
Oh, there are lots of them! So, only the main wishes. For guitar, Guano Apes' fire in your eyes, probably the best song of 2011 for me. I love the melody, the lyrics, I love everything in this song, and I wish I could accompany myself. But I don't have enough skills to pick up tabs (though they seem to be very simple. anyway, I tried, but unsuccessfully), and can't find them in the web. And for keys, nightwish's the pharaoh sails to orion piano part always seemed insanely amazing to me, so I really wish I could play it :-)
PS. Actually, I wish I could play on an instrument well, so I could play any song :D
day 28 - a song that makes you feel guilty
It's a really strange question. I don't know what to answer, because songs don't make me feel guilty o_0 People do, but songs don't. But there is one certain song that stops me from feeling guilty. Well. There are many bad things happened in my life that I caused and that I'm ashamed of. But for most of them no-one can punish me more than I do. Really, even people who suffered from me forget about it, but I don't. I swear, I understood my guilt, I will never do that again, so why not to let it go? But I simply… can't. I just HATE myself for what I've done. I hate myself, because I let this happen. No matter how, no matter why, no matter years passed by. It doesn't even matter that in some cases no-one will ever remember it (if they do, they will just laugh and forget again). It doesn't even matter that sometimes it meant NOTHING for anyone. Actually, it even doesn't always mean that I was guilty. Anyway, I just spend sleepless nights analysing it all (even if there's nothing left to analyse) and trying to understand how could I let this happen (even if everything is already understood). And this feeling just consumes me.
But there is one certain song that I always recall when it all goes too bad (damn, why it was released too late, just in 2009? It could really help me many times before). This song is twisted coil by guilt machine.
"Shut down the guilt machine and wash your conscience clean of yesterday…"
Simple, but brilliant. And so damn true.
PS. That's funny how the most strange question turned into the most personal.
day 29 - a song from your childhood
There are many good songs that I remember from my childhood. But I would like to mention one particular song. It is Summer Son by Texas. The reason why I chose it is very weird. I used to consider it as the first song I heard and kept in mind in my conscious life, because I clearly remember watching its video on TV in my family's first apartment. But there is a little problem: we moved from that flat in 1997, and the song was released only in 1999. So I don't know what to think :D Mind sometimes plays strange tricks on me. By the way, those days I didn't know how sexy the song and video were :-) And always wondered, isn't it too hot (I mean high temperature) for an actor which was dressed in a suit with many bulbs :D
day 30 - your favorite song at this time last year
Thank last.fm, I can watch that on 18th of September 2010 i listened to brand new day by ryan star 9 times in a row, and I think that day it was my favourite song. It was the main theme for TV series Lie To Me. The chorus is sooooo beautiful!
Well, I think I've completed the challenge! :-) I really liked this idea of a daily meme, so I think I'll figure out something new.
