Considering my current geograpgical position (Ireland) and its penchant for utterly random weather, and my life-long obsession with music, I began to wonder, is there a song out there which matches every weather condition my fair country could throw at me?
Of course, music having been around for a lot longer than any of us can fathom, I am absolutely sure that there is. So, now, I am going to search Google and the recesses of Last.fm until I find one for as many weather conditions as I can. And here I go.

Weather in general? Well, of course, nothing could compare to Crowded House's classic, Weather With You. Weather With You
With a catchy chorus, I guarantee a latge proportion of you have sung along to this song at some point. As for whether you enjoyed it or not, well, that's a different matter. :D

What now? Well, our favourite weather condition here, rain of course! I thought for a little while on this one, and googled a little more, until it became obvious what I would have to choose. The most popular Rain related song? Purple Rain, by Prince.Purple Rain
I only want to see you bathing in the Purple Rain. This song is an absolute classic, and I've loved it for years. Always reminds me of driving through the lashing rain with my Dad, the speakers at full volume. But that is, I fear, an entirely different story.

Wind next? Well, why not… How about this one, Against the Wind, Bob Seger? Against the wind
We were young and strong, we were runnin' against the wind. Although I'm perfectly aware this song uses wind as a metaphor, I see absolutely no reason why I can't use it in a literal sense too. :D We don't get a lot of strong winds here, but when we do, they're gale force. As for this song, it's definitely not my favourite, but the lyrics, though clichéd, are somewhat perfect to describe our lovely weather here, especially the choruses. I suppose all I can say is…enjoy?

Now, something we don't get a lot of here; Sunshine! This song I've chosen, not because it's happy, or "sunny", as you might say, but because it represents some of the things sunshine means to me. The summer sun reminds me of days lost, years gone by and memories missed. But, as the song says, "We're only several years from the sun". This is The Sun by Maroon 5. The sun

So what else have we got here? Snow, maybe? Of course. This song will be my last for this morning, as it's after 2am and I'm getting tired. This song is Snow. It's not about Snow, as such, unless you're actually into hard drugs, but it'll do for now, because, like I said, it's late. This is Snow from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. snow

Who thinks I should leave this for tonight? I do. And since I'm the one writing it, I firmly believe that I am in charge here. So I shall finish for now, and possibly resume in the future.
