...Because you care!
YES, I'm bored. That and I gotta go out for a bit so just thought I'd make it before my AFK-ness. I know nobody cares, so don't feel the need to respond. Fuck, I don't even care about this journal. Look, I'm spamming my own journal!
SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSAPM!!!!
Meh, here goes. The only possible purpose I can see this journal entry serving is to reflect on my favorite tracks a few months from now. Don't owe or don't like the Deliverance?? Think it's the consequent continuation of the Blackwater Park's style.
Nice Yamaoka selection btw.! :D -

Akira Yamoka tracks you've selected; massive sex.
Hypocrisy tracks you've selected; massive sex.
IRON MAIDEN?! WOT RONG WIV U WOOSH I FORT U WUZ KOOL D: -
Wooshmeister şunu yazdı:
WUT'S RONG WITH U!? IRON MAYDEN ARE GEWD SEV, IM SERIUS!!! AND I'M KOOL, I LISSEN TOO HIPPOCRIZE, RITE!?
I actually just edited my About Me explaining my stance between Iron Maiden and Hypocrisy. They're almost tied on my charts but I hold Iron Maiden higher because they're basically the band that got me into Metal.
That and I could pick my Top 10 Hypocrisy tracks easily. Iron Maiden on the other hand took a while, same with Akira Yamaoka. In all fairness, I haven't heard all of Hypocrisy's work, only 4 albums or so.
Hypocrisy's still great though, they probably hold the record for raping and climbing up my charts quicker than any other band. I can also go on Hypocrisy listening marathons more than I can with Maiden. They're both Godly, it just boils down to what kind of mood I'm in.
@speisz: I own Deliverance, but admittedly I didn't give it as much listening time as I should've, same with Orchid to an extent. Opeth and Tool are two bands where the more I listen to a song, the more they grow on me so I should probably go back and give Deliverance another shot, only fair. -

virus is very overrated

Wooshmeister şunu yazdı:
Well I like it. It was also the first album I heard by Hypocrisy so that probably has something to do with it as well.

but it still is very overrated and does not hold my attention at all

Dude! Loved your journal, but I would add
Killing Artand
Inseminated Adoption in Hypocrisy, list.
-
Wooshmeister şunu yazdı:
Lolz, I maek response to mah own jernul.
Thanks Rai. At the time I made this journal, I hadn't heard Abducted and Inseminated Adoption didn't really jump out to me in the same way Eraser or Dead Sky Dawning did. I also hadn't heard the self-titled album which is excellent, probably my favorite after Virus. And Killing Art is awesome, I had it looping in my head a few days ago for some random reason. :) -

Duddddddddddeeeeeeee Agalloch top ten, and yet no 'As embers dress the sky' it makes me sad man, it makes me so sad :-(
I would have put fearless by Hypocrisy in aswell but hey, bar that some very good songs. Glad to see some love for the lodge, such a simple song and yet it's awesome!! -
Wooshmeister şunu yazdı:
Agalloch was a tough choice. Embers Dress the Sky and The Misshapen Steed were definitely contendors but they make too many great songs, it's unfair to choose just 10. Hell, I should've just chose 12 for Agalloch. It's my journal, I can do what the hell I want! As for The Lodge, that was the first Agalloch song I heard so it has a special place in my heart. (Dear God, that sounded really corny)
Looking back on my Top 10 Hypocrisy, that listing would be very different now that I've given the self-titled album a good amount of listening time. Truth be told, I'm getting somewhat tired of Hypocrisy. I'm sure that's because I obsessively listened to them for about 2 months straight, just need a short break. And thanks for the response Rich! -

Richardthegreat şunu yazdı:
Haha I agree with you i'm soooooooooo glad that you and others recomended them to me, Jesus christ I really can not get enough Agalloch, it's like a disease. Their just ridicolous a 10 + minute song goes by so quick!!
Meh it's the same with me and some of the artists in top 50, I'd like to reset my charts but I kind of wanna show a true reflection of my musical path!!
I really need to listen to some Black Sabbath, it sounds fucking crazy, but I don't even own an album, I've seen them live and yet I only know their 'bigger' songs!! I've been a metal fan for years and I don't own a BS album...... hmmmm i'm pretty sure I could get shot for saying that in some places :-P -
Wooshmeister şunu yazdı:
That's how everyone feels about their charts. If you dig deep enough in my charts, you'll find traces of Radiohead (Who I've never listened to in my life...) and a lotta other stuff that doesn't go with my charts at all. Franz Ferdinand? The Beatles? The Mars Volta? Eh, it's strange but it reflects your musical growth which is why I don't believe in resetting charts. That and I'm proud of my tracks played, approaching the 30k mark! And I couldn't agree more about Agalloch, Fire Above, Ice Below flies by so quick! It really doesn't feel like 10+ minutes, same with In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion. The same definitely holds true about Opeth. (Black Rose Immortal, a 20+ minutes beast of a song feels like 10 minutes at most. That's talented musicianship right there)
And you DO need to listen to some Black Sabbath, one of the pioneers of Metal and still one of the finest bands in the genres. I actually disliked them when I first heard them but they're one of my favorite bands now. They're just awesome. As for Black Sabbath song recommendations, I guess I'll toss some your way:
Hard Road
Black Sabbath
Never Say Die
Tomorrow's Dream
Planet Caravan
War Pigs (You've probably already heard this one)
Heaven and Hell
Lord of this World
Basically visit the Black Sabbath Last.fm page and listen to anything in the top 50, almost all of them are great. And yes, you would get shot for saying such a thing amongst Metalheads. If this wasn't a Last.fm journal and instead we were sitting in a room talking, you'd have a bullet between your eyes by now. :) -

Don't you like Sabbath's 'Paranoid'?
-
Wooshmeister şunu yazdı:
I do, but I never really saw the big fuss over it. It's definitely a solid song, but I have no idea why it's their #1 song by such a big margin. It's not a bad song at all, I just think Sabbath has done far better songs that don't get nearly the same amount of mention.
-
British_Viking şunu yazdı:
Blood Brothers in the Madien list? One of their worst songs. The other Maiden songs are strong and worthy though. And yes, I agree about Paranoid. Great song, but for all the praise it gets, no way.
-
Seasonreaper şunu yazdı:
Meh, I like Blood Brothers, it has nice soloing. Although on that case, I'd probably replace it with Caught Somewhere In Time, now thats an awesome Maiden song! Nice picks for Agalloch and Opeth, and despite the obvious lack of Love Psalm in the Akira Yamaoka choices, theres also some great stuff there. Also agree about 10 songs from Agalloch being a problem, they're all good in my opinion =P. Another thing I like about both Opeth and Agalloch is their ability to do much calmer songs than their usual stuff, mainly looking at Misshapen Steed, A Desolation Song, Harvest and Windowpane here. It's a good variety and still keeps a very high quality of listening. Thats why they're such good bands to be honest.

Yea no Misshapen Steed in Agalloch makes me sad.
