Electronic sound sculptor & designer Ian McArthur has evolved the aiffhead sound since the early 80's. aiffhead continues to assemble evocative digital soundscapes using a minimalist strategy both technologically and aesthetically.

aiffhead is most known in China where while living in Shanghai (2001 - 2003) he worked with Shanghainese rap star Masta Loop creating the track "Hi-Rize" which was at one point in 2002 the most downloaded Chinese hip hop track on the internet.

In 2005 a limited edition 3' CD of the track "Cities" was released on French Canadian art label Avante Avante. Los Angeles producer and electronic artist Choncey Langford (http://www.last.fm/user/choncey) included aiffhead material on the track "Electric Word" released on his album "The Enthusiast" also in 2005 on the Seattle-based label Woodson Lateral.
