Maybe the resting of players is a good move that will help them to attempt a deep playoff run. Clint Hurdle, most likely unknown outside of Pittsburgh due to the way the MLB is broadcasted, is actually a decent manager. The Pirates are just stuck with some bad players and the moves by the GM have not been so great right now, even during the season.

Excuse me for being uncouth here, but our cunt asshole of an owner needs to actually go out and spend a little more than $45 million a year on the salary. We get injuries you know and then play our scrubs who should even be in the majors, e.g. Steve Pearce. Until the owner goes out and spends, it's going to be increasingly difficult for us to finish the season above .500. Every other team seems to improve in the off season, but not the Pirates so much.
