I realized today that Veckatimest makes me think of you. I don't know why.

Dammit. See, I listen to way too much Iron & Wine to ever be considered manly. I'm stuck in the transvestite realm.

http://www.vimeo.com/19703925 The best part is at 6:20 when they start playing Highly Suspicious and they caught the 12 year old girl's reaction to the song. Priceless.

The Brown Album is their best just in terms of weird, fucked up lyrics. And the beats are so heavy it's almost ridiculous.

I've been listening to a lot of Alkaline Trio, Hot Water Music, and Bear vs. Shark. My dark underside of punk and hardcore is rearing its ugly head.

You were disappointed by Devotchka's albums? Why is that?

Music is very subjective and our taste changes as we age, I have found. For instance, I don't have the burning passion for Bob Dylan that I once had. I still love his music but I don't play him nearly as often as I did 3 years ago. It's all part of the growing up process, I feel. I also become obsessed with certain musicians and listen to them non-stop for a month or two and then don't listen to them for a year. I'm weird. I also liked the first track that you liked of Sufjans. I know what you're talking about the "whispering" style of singing. I like it, but it's different strokes for different folks. Oh, and the soundtrack that you were talking about is from the movie "Little Miss Sunshine," I believe (the famous one being "Chicago").

Oh la la! My brother Joshua actually made me a copy of Sufjan's new album for my drive home on Thursday night. I really liked it! It's a bit of a departure from some of his earlier, more folksy stuff, but I rather like it. My favorite songs are "I Walked" and "Now That I'm Older." What are your thoughts on the album?

I just finished printing out my resumes and sweet cover letters! I'm driving back down to Humboldt tonight and then tomorrow I begin my Quest for Money, Fame, and Power.
