Worlds Collide is the sixth studio album from cello metal/heavy metal group Apocalyptica, released on September 14th, 2007.

The opening track Worlds Collide is one of the stronger tracks of the album, alternating with peaceful and powerful melodies, demonstrating all the finer qualities of Apocalyptica.

Followed by another great track Grace featuring Japanese Tomoyasu Hotei performing guitar. Perhaps the best track on the album, great celloperformances and drumming, with the added element of strong guitarwork.

First vocal track and the third track on the album, I'm Not Jesus featuring Corey Taylor of Slipknot & Stone Sour is by far the weakest on the album, lyricalwise the song is horrible and the singer doesn't really improve it, also the composition lacks that something.

Ion the fourth track gives us once again Apocalyptica as it should be, haunting and mysterious cello melodies with good backup by the drums.

Next we have the second vocal track and the only cover song on the album. Helden a german language cover of David Bowie's Heroes performed by Rammstein's Till Lindemann

Stroke is somewhat weaker among the instrumental tracks, but this is mainly because of an annoying repeated melody played throughout most of the track, although the lead melodies are amazing.

Dave Lombardo of Slayer fame once again graces us with his drumming skills on the seventh track Last Hope, although his drumming tends to outshine the cellos on this track.

3rd vocal track I Don't Care featuring Adam Gontier (Whoever that is?) is the "heaviest" of the vocal tracks, but it doesn't save it from suffering the lyrical problems, not to mention the mediocrity of the lead singer. On a positive note. This track features a short piano interlude, offering change in the instrumentation.

8th track Burn is another good alternating track with heavy and peaceful parts. There is something familiar about this track, but I can't quite figure out what it is.

the Last vocal track S.O.S (Anything but Love) featuring Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil is the most balladish song on the album, relying more on the vocals of Cristina, than the cello, which was a mistake. Effectively making it a weak track among the rest.

The last track on the normal release Peace begins with a solo melody (which somehow reminds me of Within Temptation's Stand My Ground) and then breaks into an almost doom like part, then alternating with heavier and lighter parts, until at 3:30 it hauntingly reminds me of a certain part of Adulruna Rediviva by Therion and finally ends once again reminding me of "Stand My Ground".

All in all it is a noteworthy album, although the vocal tracks (with the possible exception of Helden) tend to be quite on the weaker side.

I now deeply regret my choice of reviewing it track by track, since it has little to none use of instrumental variety to help me. It's just three cellos backed by drums.
