ISIS has reached an end. It's hard to try to say it in any delicate way, and it is a truth that is best spoken plainly. This end isn't something that occurred over night and it hasn't been brought about by a single cataclysmic fracture in the band. Simply put, ISIS has done everything we wanted to do, said everything we wanted to say. In the interest of preserving the love we have of this band, for each other, for the music made and for all the people who have continually supported us, it is time to bring it to a close. We've seen too many bands push past the point of a dignified death and we all promised one another early on in the life of the band that we would do our best to ensure ISIS would never fall victim to that syndrome. We've had a much longer run than we ever expected we would and accomplished a great deal more than we ever imagined possible. We never set any specific goals when the band was founded other than to make the music we wanted to hear and to play (and to stay true to that ideal), so everything else that has come along the long and winding path has been an absolute gift. As with any momentous life-changing decision (which this certainly is for the 5 of us), we feel a very dynamic range of emotions about this and cannot express all of it within the space of a few sentences, and perhaps it's best to do what we've always done in and let our music speak for us. It is and has been the truest expression of who we are as a collective and in some ways who we are as individuals for the 13 years in which we've been together. The last and perhaps most important thing we might say in relation to all this is how grateful we are for the people that have supported us over the years. It is a lengthy list that would include those who put out our records, those that played on them and put them to tape, the many bands with whom we shared the stage, all of our family, friends and companions who supported us in our individual lives and thus made it possible for us to continue on in the band, and most importantly those who truly listened to our music whether in recorded form or by coming to out to our shows (or both). It is quite true that we would never have done what we have without those people, that is many of you who are reading this. Our words can never fully express what we feel, but we hope that our music and the efforts made to bring it into being can serve as a more proper expression of gratitude for this life and for everyone in it. Thank you.
In more immediate and practical terms the tour we are about to embark upon is indeed our last. We are hoping that these final live rituals can help us bring a close to the life of this band in a celebratory and reverent way, and also provide us with a chance to say goodbye to many of those that have supported us over the years. While there is a measure of sadness that comes with the passing of this band, we hope that the final days can be joyous ones during which any and all that wish to come and join us will do so. It seems fitting that the last show of the tour and of our active existence will take place in Montreal, the site of the very first ISIS show in 1997 (though that was an unintentional move when booking the show initially). After the tour we also plan to follow through with other projects set in motion some time ago - pursuing the completion of a final EP, compiling live audio and visual material for future releases, and generally doing whatever we can to make our music available for as long as there are people who wish to hear it.

It`s the loudest rig I`ve ever owned.
Five songs are written for the new album. This is album may be the darkest YOB album. Some uncompromising DOOM riffs are there, mixed with some all new vibes and twists, and a 20+ minute album closer. The album itself will be 60+ minutes.
We are VERY excited to have Sanford [Parker (Buried at Sea, Minsk)] at the helm to record and mix the new tunes. The vibes on this new shit hits me as Elaborations of Carbon meets The Unreal Never Lived with a darker approach. The tunes have a very measured pace in some places, but there are still lots of different speeds and varied attack in tempos. We absolutely cannot wait to record.
The band will be recording this to-be-titled album starting in late March. Profound Lore will be putting out this album sometime in mid to late Summer 2009. -
’River, Bear Your Bones’ will finally see the light of day!

Finally, finally, finally our new opus 'River, Bear Your Bones' will be released in the UK on July 28th. The rest of the world soon after. Sorry for the wait. Rest assured that it will stab you in the face and rip out your eyes. Buy it, steal it, whatever but above all we hope you enjoy it.

Deadbird - Twilight Ritual update and more...
We have finally found a home for our new record, 'Twilight Ritual.' At A Loss... Recordings will be releasing the CD version in early 2008. The vinyl version will follow soon after.
We have a few other releases leading up to 'Twilight...'
'The Head and the Heart' LP is at the pressing plant as I write this, meaning we should have it by mid-December. It is being pressed on heavy weight vinyl in an edition of 500 copies, with a gatefold featuring new artwork by our friend Jason Barnes. Our friend Karim at I'm Better Than Everyone Records is handling this release.
We have a new song, 'Skull White Stone,' on the 'Pharmacopia' 5x7" box set, which is limited to 250 copies. The box also includes new songs from Raw Radar War, Coffins, Fistula, Noosebomb, and more. The box itself will be available only through the Land O' Smiles web store. We will have a very small amount of our split with Raw Radar War available for mail order. This should also be available in mid-December or early January.
And last but certainly not least, the split with Burned Up Bled Dry is still inching its way to the surface. The record features the first new BUBD recordings in nearly a decade, so for those that have not heard of them, they are legends of destructive hardcore. We are honoured to share this slab of vinyl with them. We hope to get this thing out before year's end, either on our own, or with the help of some lucky label.
That's all for now. We will be back on the road in early 2008, and we have some other releases in the works as well. -

Dorset Doom returns like never before; The new Electric Wizard are back & this time it's for real. With their sixth full-length studio album titled Witchcult Today, the album will certainly give listeners something they've been waiting for from this now legendary cult band. Recorded & produced by Liam Watson (White Stripes, Datsuns etc) at London's legendary Toerag studio's, the album is released on November 12th. Initial CD copies will come in foil Gatefold LP replica, with a double vinyl version foil sleeve also (first 125 copies will come with exclusive free poster & patch and will be up for pre-order on the Rise Above site within the next week or so, once we have an estimated delivery time.

Get well Brent (Hinds) - Mastodon

"Mastodon guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds suffered a severe head injury after his performance on Sunday night's [September 9] MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas. He is being treated by a Las Vegas hospital where he remains hospitalized."
It is rumored that Hinds' injury was sustained during a brutal assault that took place shortly after Mastodon performed "Colony of Birchmen" at the Palms Casino Fantasy Suites in Las Vegas. However, it should be noted that this information has not yet been corroborated by an official source." -

A Strange Night of Loops, Heat and Loops

Sun 15 Jul – Pharaoh Overlord, Alexander Tucker, Stargazer's Assistant
If any of you lot who organised this are reading, start a little earlier ;) Doors: 7pm First artist: 8:30pm(ish)
Three very interesting and pretty damn varied offerings were on show.
STARGAZER'S ASSISTANT were a three piece for most of their 'set'. With Alexander Tucker, Daniel O’Sullivan, David J. Smith and Jussi (from Circle). They produced a mix of looped (and fucked with) percussion, the sounds almost 'collected' by the microphone wielders before they exacted their imprint on it and added it to the soundscape. Ending up with interesting loops of percussive sound with vocals, again, looping over the top. Finished off by a giant of a man arriving on stage, and growling something indistinguishable for the next while.
Cig break time.
Then Alexander Tucker (and his army of pedals) took the stage and did something quite similar to STARGAZER'S ASSISTANT but less percussion and more complex guitar and vocal loops. It was interesting again, but doesn't entirely hold interest I find.
By this time it was getting on to quarter to eleven, and Pharoah Overlord stroll onto stage, each with a piece of BM 'spiky stuff' draped rather unconvincingly (though comically) over some part of themselves. It was remarked as the time, 'Oh my god, more than one instrument on stage,' for there were three guitarists, a bassist and a drummer (who had the cold, dead eyes, of a killer - Bernard Black). Lush, slow rich sounds and rhythms then filled the small room under the arches. The essential bits of much rock and roll has been distilled into a lumbering sound which, while repetitive, manages to pull the listener into the thick, mong inducing depths.
After leaving early (shit tubes dont'cha know), we managed to catch the last bakerloo line northbound and it was at piccadilly circus that my luck ran out. Westbound train, gone, eastbound (that my companion needed), waiting at the platform. Cue a wander round central london for a little bit, before arriving at Trafalgar Sq. and my bus stop home.
Ever so slightly disappointing night, if mainly because of the tube situation and the lack of any real bass bar Pharoah Overlord, but worth the seven quid no doubt.
