  • Open Mind Indicator Useless Post That No One Will Read Because It Links To No…

    1 Eki 2007, 15:36

So on the bright side I'm open-minded, but unfortunately it seems I have to face up to being a rock fan. Adding up the non-rock related tags on the extended list (click image for more useless details!) I come up with somewhere between 12 to 20% non-rock genres (give or take a few percentages, depending on the more ambiguous labels and my own lack of skill with adding), so there we go. I may listen to everything, but very little of it.
  • Prince? Ain't that a bitch?

    4 Tem 2007, 05:50

"Early CD copies of Lovesexy have the entire album in sequence as a single track, so the listener is forced to hear the whole album in the context of a continuous sequence." -wikipedia

Thank you, Prince, for assuring that I'll almost never listen to this album of yours which I have purchased. As if having your naked self all over the cover wasn't enough incentive already.
  • 31 Weeks of Last.fming

    11 Nis 2007, 02:26

I'm supposed to write an essay tonight so naturally I began by listing the #1 artist for each week I've been on last.fm. Thirty-one weeks, it appears! Intriguing, surely!

    1. The Beatles
    2. PJ Harvey
    3. Phil Ochs
    4. Sonic Youth
    5. Bob Dylan
    6. Sleater-Kinney
    7. Judee Sill
    8. Husker Du
    9. Guided by Voices
    10. Van Morrison
    11. Dead Kennedys
    12. 2Pac
    13. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
    14. The Smiths
    15. DNA
    16. Chuck Berry
    17. Tom Waits
    18. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
    19. The Magnetic Fields
    20. Bob Dylan
    21. Minor Threat
    22. Unrest
    23. Pig Destroyer
    24. Prince
    25. The Incredible String Band
    26. Soft Machine
    27. nothing at all this week
    28. Prince
    29. The Pogues
    30. Nick Drake
    31. Philip Glass

So what did we learn? Well, Bob Dylan and Prince are tied for most weekly #1's, with two each. Neither are in my top 5, though, so apparently I don't listen to them as consistently as I listen to others, but when I do listen I tend to listen to them quite a bit. Or at least I listened to them quite a bit twice. Also I seem to listen to mostly rock. A shocker. Still, there is a rapper in there, and a country band, and a minimalist composer to boot. And a bunch of folkies who may or may not be playing rock depending on your definition. And I suppose what Prince plays might not be "rock" either, but who knows? Maybe YOU. Please reply, the world needs to agree upon what Prince is. A turnip?
  • Of Momus:

    17 Oca 2007, 10:43

"In 2006 he was a featured artist in the Whitney Biennial [8] in New York City, serving as an 'unreliable tour guide' to visitors of the exhibition." -wikipedia

OMG I SAW MOMUS LIVE BEFORE I EVEN KNEW WHO MOMUS WAS AND NOW I'M LISTENING TO MOMUS AND THEN I FIND OUT THAT I WAS LIKE THIS CLOSE TO HIM AT THE WHITNEY AND DIDN'T EVEN KNOW AND OMG OMG OMG I'M HYPERVENTILATING

Keep on the lookout for weird British guys with eyepatches, folks! You never know when you'll find yourself listening to their music!

    Momus!

    Slick Rick?

  • My Supergrass Picture Is Victorious!

    23 Eki 2006, 04:59

As the title says, my Supergrass picture has defeated the former rather horrible looking Supergrass picture which always seemed to be cluttering up my top artists picture thingies. The band still looks a bit ugly, but now at least they look ugly and kinda cool too. Behold the powers of black & white.

Also remember to vote for my images for:
The Vaselines (the only one there, in pastels)
Crass (or really, vote for any of them, they're all alright; mine is the one with their logo in back of them and you see three of their heads- one looks dejected, one looks like a woman yelling, and one looks like John Cusack)
The Modern Lovers (the only one there, in black & white; like Supergrass they look silly no matter what, but b&w works wonders)
Bikini Kill (the black & white one with Kathleen Hannah shouting and wearing sunglasses and one of the other Bikini Killers playing guitar or bass behind her)
Charlotte Leslie (er, the only picture of her that exists on the internet as far as I know)

I think I also put up pictures elsewhere, but I can't remember right now. Just look around and vote vote vote for anything you can find! Go crazy!

And please also vote for the picture of Judee Sill where she's holding her guitar case and casting her gaze upon the heavens at the end of an alleyway. I didn't put it up there, but I dearly love whoever did. It needs to be voted in! Brewer & Shipley could also probably use a picture, even though they never took one that wasn't crap.

Vote! Vote now! Don't vote against me, please! We must defeat the scourge of Pictures That I Don't Particularly Like As Much As Certain Other Pictures! Onward to victory!
  • Song No. 1000 Celebratory Extravaganzamationfestgasm

    15 Eyl 2006, 22:39

So after a mere week and a day here I've arrived at Song Numero One Thousand. And that song is, if I'm doing my math right, Camper Van Beethoven's "Balalaika Gap". So there you have it. Cake and punch will be served in the reception hall following the service.
