or a word
or a mere letter of the alphabet
Even so, the walls of the house came down.
The roofs flew off
The floors became ditches.
But they
who were epics of love
stayed bound in velvet bindings
and whatever way the wind blew
their walls rose higher
the roofs stronger
and the floors got paved with new stones.
Outside all the bindings
now I
am really a tiny poem about love
each of my letters
a wick
in the hundred-armed darkness of this world
setting it aglow.
